I think that if the water was just too cold and stunted the plant it wouldn't be so droopy. but they way you describe it makes me think you way over watered! Do you have any pics?
I do just fine with watering every 3-4 days (at 5 they droop) with up to half the soil size in water(1gal H2O / 2gal pot, etc) except seedlings & new clones who need less...My soil drains really well (Happy Frog Jump Start with 20-30% added perlite) and I've never experienced overwatering issues. I'm also in a dry, arid region so things don't stay too wet for long...

You can get an aquarium heater and set it in the bucket of water while it's sitting if you desire warmer temps.
