Big Buddha - Blue Cheese
Well I've been growing for a while but fairly new to hydro. I just finished my first hydro grow using Barney Farms LSD and that shit was off the chain. I had 3 ladies that yielded about 6 ounces(dry) of crazy strong stuff. So now I'm hooked on hydro. My buddy suggested I keep a log this time around and it sounds like a good idea so here we go...
So I'm growing in the closet of my home office. Last grow I found that 3 ladies don't fit and ended up having to setup a make shift area in another closet so this time I'm only doin 2 chicks! I've got 2 5 gallon buckets, air stones with tubing and a fishtank pump... all from walmart. I went down to the local hydro shop to pick up the FF nutes and also got some lids for the buckets that already have 6 inch pots built into them. Using hydrotrons. I built a light cover using 4 of the 3 light fixtures from Home Depot. I have an assload of CFLs which I can load in the cover to produce up to 31000 lumens. Thats obviously overkill for 2 plants plus in order to manage the heat I keep it at around 10000 lu. Heat isn't an issue this time of year, but I have a portable AC unit in the closet for summer months.
I got these beans from attitude seedbank. They are feminized so I dont have to waste time guessing. BTW, there's always forum posts on which seedbanks to use... the only ones you need to use are attitude or doc chronic. they're both solid, good selection, good deals, usually get extras and most of all they are so discreet that theres very few LE probs.
I germinated these 2 BC ladies in Grodan mini blocks until sprout and tap root popped out both sides. Then I dropped them in the net cup lid and dumped in the hydrotrons. The water is pH'ed to 5.5 but no nutes yet. Don't wanna burn them baby roots.
On my last grow, I vegged for 30 days and flowered for 60. Turned out nice but the plants did get freakin huge to the point that I had to prop them up or they'd fall over. So this time I plan to only go 10 days veg. If anybody has any advice or experience to share about containing growth and/or various light cycles, I'd love to hear it. I've never done LST before but plan to this time so it should be interesting.
I'd also like to hear from anybody that has advice about odor control. That was my #1 problem last time. I had 3 stinky ass skunky flowering in my closet and you could smell it out in the yard when I'd open the window. Pretty much as soon as you walked in the front door it blasted ya. I tried alot of things but it was BAAAAAAD!!! This Blue Cheese strain is supposed to be mixed from blueberry strains and is said to have a strong fruity, berry smell. If thats true, cool. But I gotta figure out something before my next White Widow grow. So anybody wanna sound off, come on!
I am currently on running a 20/4 cycle with 4 6500K CFLs right now. We're on Veg Day 2 and these babies are tiny. I'm going to try to do a time lapse at the end of this thing so I plan on taking pictures of each plant every single day. I don't know how long it will last, but I'm shootin for the next 70 days. As soon as I figure out how to post pics, I will put a few up to give yall an idea of my setup. It says I may not post attachments so I gotta figure out why. But right now I'm high as martian shit from that last harvest so I'm gonna go do some gaming. :rastasmoke:
Hope everyone will follow this grow and give me your input.
