    NEED SOME EMERGENCY HELP!!

I posted this thread in indoor growing and realized it should have been posted in "Plant Problems". Sorry about double posting but I wanted to be sure it was in the right area. This is a first time grow using an aeroponic system. I have eight plants growing in a 16 net system. All plants were started from seed in rockwool cubes and then placed in the net pots. They are now four weeks old and they were growing beautiful until I noticed this morning that two were drooping. One plant was bending over. I noticed that the bottom inch of the stems were thinner and brittle looking and the plant was bending from that spot. I am currently using a 400 watt MH placed about 16 inches above the plants. The nutrient solution is as follows; (all nutrients per gallon of water adjusted to ph of 5.8 to 6) 3 tsp of B.C. Boost, 1 1/2 tsp of B.C. Grow, 1/2 tsp of Thrive Alive B-1 Red, 1/2 tsp of MagiCal and 2 tsp of SugarDaddy. The system is spraying the roots every 5 to 6 minutes for one minute. They were all looking beautiful until I noticed this problem. Does anyone know what's happening?

Do you have a fan blowing on them? If not, its likely the problem. You need the circulation fan because besides blowing fresh air onto the plants, it also strengthens the stems.

Many thanks for the post. Ironically, my circulating fan arrived today. It will be up and fanning shortly. Could this be what's referred as damping-off?

    Sorry!
Could not resist a "could this be" question.

Actually they are a tad old to be "dampening off" sounds more like stem rot.
Fill out da form, and enclose an 8 X 10 Glossy, color, photo, and the nextpert to come along will he'p ya out.

    Weezard,

Thanks my friend but no apologies are necessary. You may be the weezard but I'm the Babyzard (truly an infant at this). Help me out here. I would be glad to post photos or send a glossy, but as i said, an infant, and I don't even know what the form is or where to find it. Sorry, but I'm trying to learn.

    Weezard,

Some more help; what is stem rot and how did I get it and how do I prevent it in the future. The plants are actually gorgeous!. They were growing beautifully, very full. Six to seven inches, a gorgeous green and very healthy. Then I noticed the two plants drooping today and after looking closer I noticed the stem issues. The bottom inch just above the rockwool was thinner and appearing to be seperating or stringy (for lack of a better description). Is there any hope?

    Ah yes THE FORM.

    Right cheer brah;

Yes, most of it seems irrelevant, but it will garner better guesses.
An' folks he'p dem what he'ps demself.

Just noticed you have but 10 posts.
Uploading pics will be a problem until you have 50.
In the meantime, grab a magnifying glass and compose the best, most detailed, written description of the problem that you can.

I'm no aero-expert but I have found rockwool and spritzing to be a bad combination.
If the rockwool stays too wet It will promote stem, and root rot!
Hopefully, your new fan will handle any "vapor-lock" problem.
(Cool, moist air pools around the bottom of the stem).

You really need an aeroponics guru on the frequency and duration of the spritz, question.
DWC is so much easier that I bagged my water pumps and timers 3 grows ago.
And, I quit rockwool, tried hydrotron, and finally found coco coir.:thumbsup::thumbsup:
So, have forgotten too much about aero and rockwool problems to be of any real use to you.

There are folks here who follow my posts around, so, I've no doubt that good advice is imminent.

(Dey prolly waitn' fo' me to swallow my sandals so dey can point and laugh.)

    Aloha,
    Wee zard

    There's always hope.
Get some air circulation to dry da stems.
Tie da girls up to support their weight.
Then spend weeks reading the stickies here.
Use the search engine, use google, read til ya puke, dem read some more.
Nevah said good growin was easy.

    NEED SOME EMERGENCY HELP!!

Many thanks for your reply. I'm not a total nerd or novice at this. I've grown a couple of Hydro grows that were quite successful. After reading further about "Aeroponics" I decided to give it a try. The first few weeks were phenominal. Growth was rapid and the 5 to 6 inch plants were (and are) very full and healthy looking and then......

....this morning! Ugh! Droops! I will try to be as specific as I can. My PH is, as I speak, 6.1. Water temp is 24 .2C. Humidity in grow tent is 33%. Temperature is 79.2. I'm using the following nutrients; B.C. Boost, B.C. Grow, Thrive Alive B-1 Red, MagiCal and SugarDaddy all according to recommended amounts and I might add that the fan is now "blowing in the wind". I might also add that I have a fishtank aireator adding air to the water supply. The light (400 MH) is approximately 20 inches above the plants. An exhaust fan is running about full speed.

Once again, the plants look incredible, full and green. The stem is what I will try and describe. First of all I need to explain the condition of the rockwool starter cube. It continually changed to a darker green, I believe some sort of algea. It is now almost black in color. I had this before in the Hydro grow. From there, the bottom one inch of the stem is thinner and dryer looking (hard to describe exactly). One of the plants appears to be stringy (seperating) at the bottom inch. That bottom one inch is lighter (not green) than the rest of the stem. Without being able to provide you with a pic I don't believe I can provide you with more of a description. Hope this helps. I would sure hate to lose these great looking gals. (Hopefully girls, they were feminized seeds).
