The City Attorneyâ??s office wasted so much time falsely claiming non-profit sales of medical cannabis within collectives are illegal. Maybe if they would have been honest and straight forward on the issue, they may not be facing 100 layoffs out of the 1,000 total slated for the City by the Mayor.

The city administrative officer plans to lay off 1,000 out of 40,000 employees. 100 of which work for City Attorney Carmen Trutanich.

The irony lies with the fact that if LA approved an additional city tax on the non-profit sales of medical cannabis, the city wouldnâ??t have to lay off any city attorneys.

Thus far, the LA City Attorneyâ??s office claims all sales of cannabis are illegal under California law. Maybe if they take another look at the laws and court cases, they could find the truth and save their jobs.

Oakland has adopted a similar city tax which generated $300-700,000 in revenue for the City and Oakland only has 4 Medical Cannabis Dispensing Collectives (MCDCs). LA has atleast 500 MCDCs currently and a populations of 3million residents. Oakland only has 404,000 in its population.
