Any advice for my first time grow

get some good soil to start with, hydro is less forgiving and you can lose your entire crop if you encounter issues along the way!

Thats basically what i was trying to say in my first post. With hydro the possibility of fucking up and killing everything is alot higher. I would hate to see your whole crop destroyed.

Soil is alot more low maintence too, just water and watch it grow. If you use good soil and keep things clean and sanitary you wont have a problem with bugs. Since your keeping your grow low key with only a few plants that shouldnt be much of a problem.
