1st grow, think Ive done my hw...
Hello guys,
Ive been searching all kinds of forums as i plan to start my first attempt. I have an 8x10 room with 8 foot ceilings. This room also has a window. I have 8-10 weeks untill i would have to harvest, this and the fact that its my 1st try have lead me to skunk #1. The place im growing is OLD but the electricity seems pretty solid.
Considering my budget Id like to run only 1 1000w hps/mh but im not sure how to set up ventilation and reflective medium (probably mylar) to accommodate my huge space with only 1 1000watter. Id like a passive intake and exhaust through the window but ventilating an almost 700 cubic foot room seems ridiculous. Maybe im over-thinking the ventilation.
I plan to run a DIY charcoal filter on my ventilation. Ill throw a dehumidifier in the room as my climate is HUMID. I have a super soil mix bookmarked as well.
If you guys have any links to similar setups, advise on how to run the ventilation or any tips id be glad to hear it. I hate to be the guy who asks all kinds of questions without searching but ive done my best.
Also my budget is about 1000 bucks so hopefully i can stay under.samson91 Reviewed by samson91 on . 1st grow, think Ive done my hw... I was planning to go with soil... I know some swear by hydro but Id rather not throw that into the equation as well. I was hopping to fit 20 pots in for veg and pray 16 survive for flower

I would try and start with a good 6 or 7 plants. The first grows are hard enough as it is to have 16 girls going.

I appreciate the responses... Yeah i know my plans seem a little ambitious for my first go. I have until the summer to plan so time is on my side but i understand experience is 1000 times better then research. I was gonna go with the feminized seeds regardless of the price.

I have a simlar set up as far as the room and fixture. If you ventilation your room properly your plants will be able to breath and expel their toxins. This will help with the temp and humidity in the room as well. You can try the Panda plastic for reflection in your room it is very durable and can be washed, it is black on one side and white on the other, that is what i use. you should buy a good fan that hooks to your light and vents out the hot air through the window. put plywood on the window and cut holes in the plywood for all venting.Good look hope this helps

I think 16-20 plants is pretty ambitious with only one light, regardless of wattage. If you veg for any length of time at all, the plants will take up so much room that it will be difficult to get a high enough concentration of light on each and still cover all the plants. You've got plenty of room, but not enough light for the "footprint" that # of plants will cover. Consider going with 2 600's instead. That will allow coverage of a larger area, while also allowing you to get them closer to the canopy without burning the plants, especially if they are air-cooled, which I definitely recommend. Just put them end-to-end and cool them with 1 fan, probably an 8 inch if you can swing the $ for lights with 8 inch flanges. Good luck.

Sounds like your just running this once ??
well i would only veg a month and a half at most with that many females
hope you get some tight nodes
mayb pinch the top of the new growth at a month, let heal and regenerate for two, three weeks .
send into flower
if you have the resources get a light track and move it down the room
and it kinda sounds like you want a forest make sure you have trails to inspect and manage the lower area of the grow this is wher big problems arise... BUGS and FUNgi .... make sure your ready for the battle befor it comes to you. first time grow first time fight for survivalimp:
you will walk intor your room and a bug will fowwlow ha ha
:stoned:
5 gal tall or 4 gal wide pot coco coir top of the soil when flowering
but would def start in 1 gal let get root bound, just a littlwe!! trans plant into 5 gal when a bout 5th node from seed
plant past round baby leaves and may be single point (nip it off stem carfully)
and nutes well trial and error...lol noo jk for real
