The record snow fall on the east coast is due to more moisture being freed up from melting polar ice. I remember a March storm that hit the same area in 1959. Snowed its ass off. But back then, the creeks froze sooner and didn't melt until later. And everyone back there ( I spent 1st 30 years there) that has lived there all of their lives know the winters are not getting as cold for as long as it used to. I will grant the fact that snow will replenish the aquifers back there, albiet where it doesn't runoff the impervious surfaces. And its more indicative of a warming trend then a cooling trend.

I guess some will say its just academia sticking up for one of its own.
