thanks for such a fast rely, it did some good reassuring haha. anyways i was curious about this water meter you mentioned....whats the main purpose of the meter? does it measure the amount of water in the soil, or the ph of one or the other or what??

Hey, sorry I didn't see this question. Yeah, it's just a moisture probe. It looks like a long thin metal tube with a little meter attached to the end with a needle that points to DRY, MOIST, or WET...

It's really helpful in getting the feel for things when you start out. You can get 'em at Ace, Home Depot, probably Wallyworld. Just go to the garden section and ask for a moisture probe or something.
