    Can i get a card?

I suffer from panic attacks and i have had some that required me to have an ekg. The anti axiety medications are really not what i wanna be on the rest of my life. I would rather be relaxed than sedated to barely awake. So would there be any way for me to get a card? i would rather be on something that i can do when i need it than a twice everyday thing.

    Thanks,
    Chris

    Hey Chris,

How long have you been having those awful attacks? Where they brought on by specific events in your life? Right now the only thing you could fight for is PTSD. Anxiety is absolutely related, I've had them before. I have a boatload of Xanax and I totally hear you on the 2 hour thing. I will give it up as soon as I get my card and am able to dose down. That is something else you can consider if you haven't already(betcha have) it's scary to think you might be left with no relief. BE HONEST,I only have so much because I haven't been afraid to let my NP know when I've taken more than written on certain days. They'll try and put you on something else for a week and so on. You need to think about why you are having these attacks,if you can. It took me along time of self medicating and visiting many people before I found someone who helped me put in perspective how I am now. I recommend going to a DOH Nurse Practitioner, a Mental Health Specialist if you can. They don't charge and mine has given me more compassionate care than any I ever paid for. If you do find that you qualify man watch where you step. There are some great folks on here who will help you if you are willing to listen. There are also a lot of people salivating at the thought of making $150 to give you something you totally don't need. Good Luck Friend

Chris, just go to a psychiatrist and get diagnosed. It will be no problem. You have PTSD which is a whole wide range of symptoms brought on by trauma. Just do it.

A psychiatrist is an MD that specialized in psychiatry. Dont go to a psychologist...they cant help you get your card. I found a psychiatrist in Santa Fe with just a few calls. I am certain you can find a doctor near you.

Chris, The docs are the ones who read books and magazines and we who live with it are who have gotten down to the bare block of the engine. We've gotten our hands dirty but missed a few clearances here and there maybe set the timing off 10 degrees the wrong way...point is you only know what it feels like once you've experienced it,lived for so long with it. It's YOUR life. Don't let anybody discredit how you feel. You,I, need a timing gun that works and it is there. It's a SOB but fight for your right. You DO NOT have to go on like this. Nothing but the best...

You don't have to be. Correct me if I'm wrong somebody but all you need is a written, signed diagnosis confirming that you have PTSD. I wouldn't even mention Cannabis. This is where you need to watch where you step. All of your medical records that you have will help prove how debilitating the condition is. The main thing is being able to get across that the benefits of Cannabis outweigh the health risks of it's use. I don't know what you take but say like benzos...reportedly can kill you if you stop taking them abruptly. I don't honestly know if they would(dosage, etc.) but you may do things in the withdrawal stages that you probably wouldn't remember and would pay for dearly for the rest of your life. They aren't what you want and or they aren't providing the relief you are entitled to. I'm telling you Chris a DOH Nurse is your better bet. Stop worrying about convincing a quack and tell whomever is writing for you that you aren't HAPPY. That is the part that you need to focus on and if he or she won't write you a recommendation then get a script(s) to get you by and take my advice. If nothing else the NP will be more flexible with you and at the very least be able to write for whatever you take now. Don't loose steam bud, I've taken at least 15 pharms to no avail. Don't be like me and get stuck in thinking that a psychiatrist has to specifically "prescribe" you Cannabis. Ultimately it is up to the DOH as to whether you get it or not. Peace

You need a diagnosis and a recomendation. A psychiatrist can do both. If you get a diagnosis from a psychiatrist and dont want to discuss the cannabis with them then you need to get a cannabis recomendation form yet another doctor. And DOH is going to want a release from BOTH of them. So there really won't be any secrets.

Dont be bashful. You are not going to have to speak to anyone who is uncool. Her eis how it goes...

Call every psychiatrist in your insurance network. You will generally get an answering machine or a receptionist. Tell them you are looking for a medical cannabis referral for PTSD and if the doctor can do this they can call you back. I called ten doctors and three called me back willing to do it. I got it done within 24 hours. No one treated me with disrespect, shock, surprise or anything. The doc I went to for PTSD had written many referrals.

Chin up man! You arent doing anything wrong and you are paying for their services!

It comes as no surprise that some of us may not have it. You have a card Bob and I do not so I am in no place to discredit your approach. Boulder,CO-Berkley,CA-SFE,NM. I can see how you could pick up the phone book in SFE and accomplish that BUT I live in Las Cruces and sh*t ain't like that here. I tried your approach to no avail, docs here aren't educated enough. When you mention Cannabis they right away think of the drug war in Juarez and say no way. They don't listen to reason. I've been told that there are several docs in my area that are "down" but that is BS. So if you can afford it,have the time do what Bob did and call everyone of them in SFE. $150 isn't all that bad if you get all you need from one doc. I applaud Bob for his achievement. If you can't afford his approach,if not you MIGHT get a diagnosis how I said, there are no secrets to hide. He or she says you have it or you don't. The most recent application I've seen doesn't have that second signature line or ask how long you have been under their care. What it says now is that if this is for PTSD it must have a written, signed diagnosis attached with it. In my opinion that is why the numbers are going up,the DOH seems to have realized that we don't all live near Madrid. You will need an MD to write on the app that he/she believes that Cannabis would be of benefit for you. Guess what? There are more Nurse Practitioners in NM than doctors and they can prescribe the same and their recommendations are just as good in our case. ESPECIALLY if you go to the DOH, they all work under Dr. Vigil.
