This happened with my last grow when we hit winter and they got stunted because it was so cold and now so hot. The only thing i can thing to do is to swtich the lights of at the end of today then dark period till the evening then turn them on when it isnt hot ? It would still be hot in the day but it wouldnt have the light on it ? Would i hermie her in 2 weeks ?

I might be able to help a little here, I had some workmen coming to do some work in my home about 2 weeks ago and I needed to move my light schedule by 4 hours (12pm on / 12am off to 8pm on / 8am off. I didn't want to stress my plants so I devised this plan.

I shortened the day and night to 11.5 hours and then moved the lights on time back by an hour a day. If I had to move it the other way, I would have done 12.5 hour days and 12.5 hour nights moving the lights on time forward by an hour each day. My plants didn't seem to mind at all.

This method might be a bit too slow for you, it depends by how much you need to shift your times.

Damn... Ive been struggling with heat in my current grow and it definitely affects the growth. I had to dim my ballast down to 400w and vent my hood out the window. Even then it still gets hot sometimes. Some days I had to turn the HPS off for awhile and use a much smaller light until the temps came down.

Can you vent the hot air outside? Ive seen people freeze multiple 2liter soda bottles filled with water and place them behind their fan and it pulls the hot air through the cold bottles and helps a little. Do you have some smaller CFLs to finish her under if it gets absolutely too hot? Ive heard of people stress ripining for up to a week. Ive also seen a seed company advise 2 weeks of darkness for "insane" resin. Might only have to hold out for another week if you do it that way...

I hope you can figure something out because she is gorgeous and I would be sad to see her go.

:jointsmile:hi char,i agree-change your light schedule,how you go about it is up to you(think less stress).i always have my lights on at night-veg and flower rooms.it gets as hot in my shed as it does the loft:thumbsup: try to resist harvesting early,you'll be dissapointed(trust me,i always take an early bud-its always shit by comparison)

Very good idea but like you said i havent really got enough time to shift 12 hours, would take 24 days ! Still appreciate the idea though phat I think really i should have thought of it before i had my lights on in that way, but even if they werent on in the day it would still be unberable hot in my loft, i think it would make a little difference. Do you rekon the heat will stop them maturing ? Would it be possible that the trichomes would just stay cloudy and not mature to amber ? There is no where to vent the air, so i would have to drill through a wall or something and i dont really fancy doing that with my diy skills ! I might give the water thing a go but even then i dont know how long they would last till they melted, i mean its realllly hot in there ! Nearly all of the heat must come from outside because when i had the cfl on in the winter it didnt keep the room warm. Heat and the Sun are both bitches, if i were god id but a cloud over house during summer !

Was thinking this mate but i got no where to went the air ! I might be able to wiggle a brick out of a dodgy wall but i dont want to collapse anything :S Hopefully she stays kinda nice and doesnt flop on me !

I took a bud of my last grow early and it really sucked ! Its just when your getting near to the end its hard not to become impatient, i havent smoked for 2months and 2weeks so its getting to me a little ! Like i said to GetThisOrDie its more so the sun than the light, i think the light would only make a little difference thinking back on my previous post. and there aint no controlling mother nature How your babies doing ? You really need to get a thread going...:smokin:

It would take 12 days to shift 12 hours by extending or shortening the light and dark periods by 30 minutes. But your point still stands, that is still too slow for you.

I would start an new thread asking this question, someone is bound to be able to help you find the best way to shift your lighting times.

...I gave 'em a short day, and a six hour night, and then another short day, and they were where I wanted 'em (initially on at 9am, and off at 3am, changed to 8pm on, 2pm off, now 8pm to 8am in 12/12 with hotter light. I know that I prolly stressed 'em a bit, but I HAD to get the damn temps outta the mid 90s, fast.

Basically, my light is on during the coolest time of the day, but some days it is hard to keep it outta the high-80s, cuz the ambient going in is 82... I've been running my fans 24/7.

Have to fig'r out a air-conditioner-y thing, fayast.

Its a bit late for me now to change the lights but on my next grows im going to have look into what the weather will be like at different stages of growth.

I thought of air con but theres no where for it to extract or an intake and im pretty sure you need for for an air conditioning unit. I'm going to give GetThisOrDie's idea with the frozen water bottles behind a fan. I froze 3 litres bottles and one 750 of water and im going to put the in a cooler bag and cut a hole in the side, place the fan in front an hopefully some cool air will be expelled ! Didnt need em today as its an alright temp but tomorrow im going to use em.



Weather had been good today, its a good temp in the loft and i flushed her for around 20 mins in the bath, plain water was coming out at the end so no nasty stuff she be in my bud come harvest. freshly flushed and looking gooood although a bit of nute burn from the pk.

11.5 hours light + 11.5 hours dark = 23 hours (1 hour per day back)
12.5 hours light + 12.5 hours dark = 25 hours (1 hour per day forward)

I can understand why you were confused. I probably didn't explain it clearly.

I was only taking into account half hour of one of the periods but does make sense now you meant both periods. Cheers for explanation :jointsmile:
