    HELP its getting hot!

i have a 4X4X6 grow tent.. using a 400W HPS they are about 2 weeks old... it seems to be pretty hot in the tent.. I am getting a 4" inline with a carbon filter to take out the air... but do i also need to get something to push air into the tent? I have heard different things..one says yes you need an inline fan hooked to a HEPA filter bringing air in, and some say that you only need an exhaust fan like the carbon filter one and the air will come in through the intake whole on its own... someone explain or give some advice please.. I have 9 plants about 2 weeks old 3 look really good(in a mixture i made) and the other 6 are in frog something potting soil then they will go into foxfarm ocean forest mix.

ALSO--- the seedlings that were started in the frog soil are very stringy... long (about 3 inches-4 inches) with only the beginning set of leaves... any advice??

Well im no pro, but it seems logical to have intake fan to get plenty of air in there while using the the other to pull out the air. The more air flow the better id think IMO. As far as your plants, they are stretching for the light. The only way to fix this is to get the light closer to the plants. The plants are stretching for the elements in the light they need to build tissues in the leaves for them to make the plant grow. Once the plant receives the light to plant distance, the plant will not need to stretch and will simply grow:thumbsup:

You could use cfl's very close to the plants in veg, while waiting for your fans to be installed. I believe your temps would drop a lot if you bring air in and pull air out into your filter.

A pro will chime in here to let ya know if im right or not, just seems like an easy fix to me is all. And if i am wrong, dont be afraid to rip me, cuz this is what id do and really dont like giving bad advise:hippy:

    Good luck :rasta:

It cannot hurt to ever have an exhaust and an intake in your tent. I know that growing in those tents it can get extremely hot thats why I prefer cooltubes while working in tents. You should probably check on how to build your own, or you can buy one from a local hydroponics shop. They work wonders, my buddys two skunk plants where so big that they were touching the cooltube and they still never got burned.

I think cooltubes own all when it comes to heat issues. Just my 2cents.

    Good luck
