Smoking out of a bowl

I personally would go with a glass screen, available at ANY headshop for about a dollar.

I always use metal screens. I wasn't aware that there were glass screens. Judging from the price, they must be better. What's the advantage?

They're just easy to clean... quick scraping with a paper clip, or a little acetone bath every ten uses or so, and you have a brand new screen! can't exactly do that with a metal screen, and they get messy. But its just my preference, a few of my friends prefer metal too.

As long as you can keep good track of tiny things, it's a decent investment. :thumbsup:

if you're a serious stoner you'll buy a grinder with a kief catcher and grind every single bowl you smoke because the kief that collects is top notch and 1 hit shit. grind every bowl, you get more surface area

Whats the surface area have to do with anything? I don't see the reason of keifing pot, your gonna smoke it for a reason, why take some reason off of it?

well, true it does mean your losing something, for the time being. As for the surface area, the more surface area, the more flame hits the weed, thus it lights easier, so you dont have to torch it the same time with the flame, a real waste, it starts an ember burning, and with the evenly ground weed, it leads to the cherry forming and not having to use a lighter. easier that is. Also burns more evenly.

as for the kief, you may smoke more green now, but the high you get from kief and leafy weed is way different in my opinion, and there is nothing like being able to pack a bowl, and then put kief on top of it and get wrecked sometimes.

depending on your method of breaking up, and also what type of weed you have depends on the kief you get, without the screen a lot of that kief you say we are wasting would get dumped on a table or surface, never to be packed up, or left on a finger, only to get brushed off, whereas, keeping it in a secured container, makes it accessible for later use.

oh, and when your done grinding your weed, put 2 nickels in the holding part with the weed, and give it a good shake, all the kief falls off and gets pushed through the screen, thus it seems like there is more kief, when in reality, it has just fallen through the screen.

Surface area has less to do with it but the weed burns easier when it's finely ground as opposed to putting in a fat nug by itself. I definately recommend every1 get a kief catcher grinder. say you buy an 8th and grind every bowl or whatever, at the end of the bag, your left with at least a bowls worth of banging kief. ! hit of that shit will put you on your ass. swear down i got high 3 different times from one bowl of kief. It's well worth it, all you have to do is grind your herb, it's easy.

I don't think this is necessary to be a "serious stoner" (whatever that means), but kief is definitely good stuff.

its all about surface area, what i do is i rip the nug with my fingers, not too much though.... set the weed in the bowl and lightly pack it but not so much because you want air flow underneath each layer which will save your weed and will get you more high. Although a grinder is nice because you can always sprinkle the keif on top:rastasmoke:

Knowing what kief is, creating your own kief, these are traits of a more serious stoner then a recreational user who just smokes a bowl every now and then. There is a difference between an occasional smoker and a connoiseur. Someone who knows what sativa and indica are, what thc stands for, what an ounce weighs. Multible variables as what makes a stoner a stoner. Knowledge is gained through experience. This is advice for all the young stoners and those who don't use kief catcher grinders because i didn't always. Now, i will always. Here's a pic of some i've collected from a few bags. can't wait to smoke it when i'm all out.
