Today's Experiences
Thanks chance9421
O.K. I posted this lat Wednesday and went to the psychiatrist on Thursday. by Friday they had reviewed my app and they called me to tell me that they needed a psychiatrist's opinion. I told them I just got back from his office and the report will be faxed soon. My psychiatrist called today and told me everythgin had been sent to DOH. I walked in and asked if they got the fax and indeed they did.
Then, the DOH staffer and I had a hear to heart...
I asked what else I could do to improve my chances and he told me there was nothing to it. I was good to go. I asked about a time line and he said I would probably get my card next week in the mail, and if not they would call again and get thigns straightened out.
As far as the grow permit he took a look at the app and said it was a no brainer...they only deny those who are obviously a risk ot those thast are less than forthcoming. He said I should have both cards in teh mail within a few days.
I have nothing but good to say about the DOH people. They are kind, professional, and they have that smoker's twinkle in their eye. The man I spoke to had a big pot leaf with a chile in the middle on his door!
Now, since I made my calls last Wednesday I have recieved five calls back from psychiatrists that are willing to see me and consider a referral.
The doctor that I went to gave me a test for medical marijuana efficiacy. In other words he asked questions on what my symptoms were like (PTSD) when NOT smoking, and then when smoking. Then he arrived at a score that quantified the benefits of marijuana in my case. This is how he explained it....
"The DOH wants me to certify that you do indeed have a qualifying condition, and that the benefits of marijuana outweigh the risks. We know there are very few health risks associated with marijuana, so we need to find some benefits". The test showed that my symptoms were "60% better" with teh help of marijuana. He has quantifiable proof behind his referral. It is very good and he did an excellent job as an MD.
The main health risk that I face from smoking marijuana would be to get the shit kicked out of me by a cop, thrown in jail, and suffer even more psychological stress than I already have. A medical marijauna card will completely eliminate this risk for me.
VIOLA! A CURE FOR EVERY BAD SIDE EFFECT OF MARIJUANA USE!
Once I get that card I am going to go to work getting surgery pain and menstrual pain added to the list of conditions. Those are no briners and no politician can refuse either. I am in a good position with the state and I can indeed exert some influence on the key people. It would certainly help if I garnered some support from the MC patients group, but I beleive it can be done without.
So everyone who smokes for a reason should apply for a MC card and request that their condition be included in the list. Everyone who smokes needs to call the Seccy of the DOH and say a few words in support of the MC program, and the people that work there. Anyone who cant find medicine and cant grow their own should call and request that another MC patient be allowed to grow for them. And finally, no MC patient should have to rely on the Mexican cartel bandits for their supply. There are plenty of good AMERICAN criminals that grow top shelf twine here in New Mexico and they are not too darn hard to come by. I support freedom and America 100% and also our bearded grow boys.
Just my two cents. I hope that you at least get a kick out of the post if nothing else.bedrockbob Reviewed by bedrockbob on . Today's Experiences So I went to see the doc in Santa Fe today. Took a couple of weeks to get in but he is a great guy and is now a personal hero of mine. Anyhoo, my qualifying condition is PTSD and I have a diagnosis from a forensic psychologist. So I hand carry the app into the DOH office and give it to the staff in person. She looked it all over and said that the only thing that she saw that might be an issue to the medical reviewer was the fact that the law states that a "psychiatrist" needs to make the Rating: 5
