Clean that bong.
For starters, I don't scrape off the crap inside bongs and pipes, I find that disgusting. Maybe because I'm a lucky Canadian dude with easy access to herb that I can afford to not do so, but I do hold on to roaches and smoke them later... so I'm not wasteful. What actually disgusts me is the crap inside pipes. It makes pipes harsher and nasty, why would I want to smoke that? Why would I want to take my time scraping it off to save it and smoke, when I can clean it better and more efficiently otherwise.
You get my train of though? I hope so... now this is what I do to clean my bongs/pipes. In reference to bongs, I mean cleaning their tubes and stems, not the chambers. I have attached images documenting the steps, they should be self-explainatory.
So, get some hot water. If you have a sink with a stopper, just fill up the sink basin slightly and submerge what you plan on cleaning in the water. If you have no sink + stopper, just use a bowl or other container. You want to use hot water because water alone will not help you clean the resin off, you want the heat of the water to make the resin softer and easier to remove.
After you think the resin has heated up, get some paper towels (toilet paper will work too, but not as well since it's designed to break down when wet) and twist it. You might want to rip the paper into strips kinda, so that when rolled/twisted it will fit inside the pipe/tube you are cleaning. You twist it to make it stronger, and so that it has kinda groves, making it act like a screw. Stick the tip of the paper into the pipe and press it in and twist in one motion, this makes the paper kinda pull itself into the pipe like a screw.
Keep twisting the paper through to the other end and then you can just pull it out most of the time. The end that comes out of the pipe will be full of resin, so be wary.
This usually cleans out any pipe I have, but for other items with that stubborn resin, go out to your local head shop or drug store and pick up some Isopropyl alcohol. Alcohol breaks down the resin, it's the best way to clean your pipes and bongs. If you don't want to get isopropyl alcohol you can just use mouthwash or something else with alcohol in it. Mind you that mouthwash won't be as effective, but it will leave you shit smelling nice. All you do is submerge the items you want to clean in the alcohol, you can cut the alcohol with water... I get 99% alcohol and it doesn't need to be that strong.
Hope this was informative, if anyone has alternative ideas please feel free to share.Bauman Reviewed by Bauman on . Clean that bong. Clean that bong.
Oh yeah, that's a bong I made... it even has a choke, it's that blocky metal device beneath the bowl.

It was actually quite simple. The hardest part was finding a suitable chamber, I needed something with a wide mouth so I could fit both the stem and hose on the top. Thus bypassing having to cut a whole in the side of a glass bottle.
After that I got a few of my friends and went downtown to my local headshop, there we looked at parts and got two gromets, one was flat for the hose, since the hose didn't need the rigidity of a booted gromet, which is what we got for the stem. We also bought the stem at that store, it's 5 inches in length. Additionally we picked up a few bowls, one of which is the silver one. I think we then went to another headshop and bought that choke mechanism and a couple of hoses, they came with the metal ends on them.
Afterwards we went to my friends house, his father has a drill press. We drilled two holes into the lid, but the biggest drill bit was too small. To solve this issue we found some pliers, stuck them into the hole and was able to widen it. After "fabrication" we moved to "assembly" were we stuck it all together.
Sadly, I had yet to fully clean out the bottle... I had rinsed it but there were still little bits of the spice paste stuck on the inside. It tasted like burning... that's the best way to describe it. But now it tastes like a bong.

how's that little choke thing work? is itjust like a hit hole where it lets air into the chamber instead of smoke?
do you not find that a bong that's just a weee bit dirty is slightly nicer han a fresh one?

All you gotta do is get a big pot of water and put your bowl/pipe/bong , whatever and boil it for about 15 min and itll be clean as a whistle, and dont worry the pot u boiled it in wont smell after a simple soap is scrubbed on it

I made up a diagram on how the choke works. It's a cut-out view from the side, there are springs on the left that keep pressure on the mechanism keeping the rightside flush with the main part.
It's like a reverse choke, you press on it to open it. Hit hole, choke, shotgun... all the same. It works beautifully... get's nice think smoke inside then press the choke and wham! it's all in your lungs my friend.
Yeah, a bong has to smell like a bong man, if it's too clean then it just ain't the same. As nice as it sounds to have a minty bong (by cleaning with mouthwash) taking a hit and getting that menthol flavour ain't too fun.
About boiling your bongs to clean them... I don't like putting glass into boiling water, sure if you put the glass in before you start boiling it shouldn't crack, I still don't like doing it though. It's not really and issue with my random bottle bong, but with nice fancy glass ones that's risky (I don't own any said bongs).

i did this a couple times already, with bongs and pipes. Id boil water with table salt added, then after it as boilded id dump it into the chamber and let it sit for abit, then you just take a old toothbrush, or something similar. Scrape the toothbtrush where the resin spots are the should slide off no problem. It left my bong looking like brandnew.Ill :bonghit::bonghit:have a pic uploaded.:bonghit:
