    Cfl wattage per plant

To veg small plants you can use 6500K 15w reflector style CFLs. They sell them at Lowes in 2 packs. I just hang one over each plant and normally I LST them to keep em short as possible. I keep the light as close to the plant as possible(<1 inch sometimes), as long as other parts of the plant aren't getting badly shaded out, if so I'll raise it up a bit. Also I will raise it up a bit right after I water/feed them because they tend to have lil growth spurts each time.

Bad example here but you get the idea..

Shop Bright Effects Daylight 65-Watt Replacement R30 CFL Indoor Flood Bulb at Lowes.com

A more efficient setup would use T5HO fluoro tubes but that would require some half decent space to work with. An even better option is build your own LED. Since veg lights stay on for a long time per day, LED is even more cost effective because of potentially long long lumen maintenance (if properly cooled).
