Spent 5 months in Amsterdam doing an internship and had no chance to grow :( But at least there was plenty of overpriced, but still good, bud to be had. Back to the topic; I'm back in frigid Finland and starting my new grow project  Equipment: Seeds: Feminized Trainwreck from Greenhouse Seeds Co. Flowering time is 8-9 weeks. Also picked up about a hundred 'Mystery Sativa (MS)' seeds from a Rating: 5

Thanks Shake! Just bought some chicken wire... SCRoG will be up in a couple days I think...

Update: HERMIES on 4/5 MS... no surprise
I already cut one of them down a couple days ago... I think I'll try to prune the nanners on the other 3 for a while, just to get some more potency out of them. I'll probably cut them down early anyways just for some smoke. Hopefully the 1 good MS will stay nanner free :wtf:

Hopefully at least one of those MS can stay hermie free! Even a bag seed strain that you have already grown out and know it hermies often you would still think you could get one good one once and awhile.

Did a good check-up on the 4 remaining, and still have 1 that is hermie-free

Oh well, still have the TW which is looking good, and I'll be picking off the balls as they come, until I get tired of it, and chop for some smoke. :rastasmoke:

So, 3 MS's got chopped down already, they hermied really bad. I kept one of the hermie MS's and trying to pick off the balls as they come. It's sitting in the corner, no fan, so hopefully it won't pollinate the other one.
TW is still in veg for another week. Put the screen on top to promote lateral growth.
Pics: TW on the left, all female MS in the center, and hermied MS on the right.

so your hermi plants put out viable stamen? I had a crop of afghani hermie from stress (cut lights out for five days vacation) and they produced lots and lots of individual bananas that were sterile and produced no pollen. This is unusual as it is the natural occuring hermi plant that is more likely to produce sterile male stamen than the artificially induced hermies.

hmm... good question. I've been picking off the nanners and didn't find any pollen, but I was assuming that the stamen didn't have a chance to produce it yet.

Now we all know what happens when you AssUMe :wtf: and maybe I jumped the gun on chopping... but in my defense, I'd rather have 2 perfect plants that'll last me through the summer until I'm back in Amsterdam, than have 5 seeded plants.
Thanks for the comment Shove, it's peaked my interest to study a little bit further into the phenomenon

hey finn....
glad to see that your grow is going well.......seems a bit risky to me keeping that hermie in the same room with your girls......but I don't have your wisdom......
curious as to why cfl's take longer to show preflowers than the HID's?
by the way, how much of the TW do you go through a day.......
everything looks great!!

As for CFL's vs. HPS, I'd say it's because an HPS grows plants faster (and are more efficient watt for watt) so the plants mature faster.
Haven't smoked my TW since after the last summer. but it was plenty potent, so if I wanted to stay high all day, I needed about a gram that I rolled into joints (4-5 per day). Depends how much I've been smoking too, tolerance goes up, etc., but then I cut back a little.
For now I've been smoking the hermie plants I chopped up, just leaves, but still works for me since I didn't smoke for 2 months until about a week ago. Little :stoned: right now
