I can't imagine the mature one (first pic of the four) is not an autoflower. I fucked up the light schedule early in vegetation (16/8 instead of 18/6) but only for a day or two. Unless that threw it into flowering, it must be auto flower.

I must say it was damn surprising to see how these grew. I could only control the flowering of one of the plants haha. All the rest somehow started while still on 18/6.

While it on my mind, I want to share that I wont be attempting any more grows until I have proper equipment. Im sick of CFLs. until I can manage to set up a proper room, proper lighting, and proper nutes, I do not feel Im am being productive with this setup.

This forum has really opened my eyes to what I want/need to do. Money is the main issue. I'll most likely take this opportunity to study growing really hard and reinforce everything i've learned. I can't even express through text how excited i am to do this thing right.

Thanks a lot, everyone. stay high.

yea i understand what you mean by CFL's. Thats how i am doing my grow but i just bought a 400w kit from HTG supply for $170.

I dont know what your bugdet is but i think its well worth it. And after i had installed, it not to sound crazy, but i did see a difference in about 2hrs.
    I take steps, one L at a time :joint1:

I completely believe you. Considering a 400W HPS puts out like 50,000 lumens, and considering my 200 watts worth of CFL's puts out about 12,000 lumens... I can see why there would be an immediate change.

I'm in a considerable amount of debt right now, and have been getting hours cut at work... It's not a wise time for me to drop $300-400 on a brand new set up (I'm not settling for just the light). But I'm pisspants excited for when I CAN afford it!

In many ways a florescent bulb is actually far less efficient than a pressurized gas lamp. This is difficult to explain and doesn't mean we shouldn't all use florescent bulbs for tons of uses for which they are more energy efficient. When a Photometrist measures the ratio between the total luminous flux emitted by a device and the total amount of input power (called the LES, or "Luminous Efficacy of a Source" that's: efficacy, NOT efficiency) they find that florescent lights create somewhere along the lines of 46-72 lumens/watt while a high pressure sodium bulb will produce 85-150 lumens/watt. This translates into an luminous efficiency (NOT efficacy) of 8-11% for the fluorescent and 12-22% for a pressurized sodium bulb. This is not a luminosity-in-one-spot measurement, it's based on the ratios determined from how that light reading changes through space and reflection.

It is hard to explain how this applies to the CFL versus HPS decision for a grower, but it has a lot to do with the penetration power of the light, as well as the power of direct vs. reflected light from the source. As long as you have a thinner canopy with fewer buried/shaded leaves, you're going to get more result with less power usage with LEDs or CFLs. As soon as you are trying to penetrate a dense canopy or throw the light a long distance from its source, you're going to need something like a gas bulb to see results from increased power usage.

Your grow looks to be at about the limit of where a florescent lit space will be more power-efficient than a similarly producing (grams/watt/cubic-foot) grow using gas bulbs. If you ever decide to pump a bunch more power into the space in hopes of getting more yield, you should do it in the form of a pressurized gas lamp or two instead of more CFLs. As for now, I see nothing but sweet sweet lung candy.

Keep up the good work! :rasta:

it looks real good....but i would wait a while longer before you cut them. They will shrink up substantially when drying....just my 2cents

Thanks Caregiver, I plan on completely re-working my space to better suit an HPS setup. Ideally I'll split my closet right down the middle and make a fake wall or something along those lines (I have a huge closet).

And thanks to you too, Moody, I'm definitely going to give it some more time. The buds have been getting bigger and bigger, but recently have seemed to stop getting any bigger. Trichomes are starting to get thicker (There's already about 15-20% more than two days ago).

I'm using the trichome coloration method to harvest, so I shouldn't be off on when I cut. Obviously i wont be cutting all of them, just the developed one.

Right now, they're crystal clear. I'm looking for a active, cerebral, headie high, so I'll be harvesting as soon as the trichs go cloudy.

Are there any reasons I shouldnt harvest when the trichs tell me to? I'd much rather have a small amount of perfect smoke than more of late harvest smoke. Plus I've heard waiting too long can cause them to go hermie.

Either way, I'm pretty confident this stuff will turn out great. Sooooo excited!

Took a couple more pics today... some of the trichs are getting cloudy (might be hard to tell from these pics, but im sure of this) so I'm planning on cutting in a few days! (1st and 2nd pic)

Anyways! popped off a tiny little piece of the plant yesterday because there was one little male flower hanging from the bottom of this particular nug. Kinda freaked me out so I just cut it out. No big deal, I'd rather be safe then sorry.

Also im happy to announce that my next plant has started to produce trichs already! (3rd pic) should be nice and fuzzy come harvest

    anyways, enjoy:jointsmile:

    Thanks BT.

Quick question for ya(or anyone really). Like I mentioned, I cut a little bit off bud off early cause of the male flowers that were popping up. It has this really strong smell of wet grass/crap. I know they don't smell the best right off the plant, but I'm worried about my flush.

I haven't used nutes in two weeks... but the problem is i've been letting the soil dry out a lot (I heard that dry conditions increase resin production, it made sense to me) so I've only watered twice in the last two weeks. Is that enough to flush? I plan on watering real good one more time before I cut her.

    whatcha think?
