tried searching...i'm new guys. mmj conflict of interest question

i've been lurking for a bit now so i decided that i might as well ask the question i've been trying to answer for a bit now.

I'm a responsible 20 year old that has legit reasons to need an mmj card. i wouldn't mind forking over the money to pay some dude for a consultation fee to get one, but i had a question about the routes i might be able to take.

my grandfather is a pediatrician who is pro-marijuana in general. he doesn't currently smoke (you have no idea how many awesome party stories that my dad and him have told me) but i know he is pro legalization.

so i was wondering if there would be a conflict of interest type of thing where a family member cannot prescribe medical marijuana to a patient who he believes needs it.

could my grandfather supply me with the recommendation needed to obtain an mmj card? or would i still need to go talk to some dude whom i have no background info on, completely unfamiliar and super uncomfortable with.

he no longer runs his clinic, BUT, he still pays his fees or whatever needs to be done to keep your medical license ongoing, even after retirement.

my parents have been taking me to my grandpa for consultation (except those baseball physicals...that would've been awkward) since i was little.

so yee, thats my situation for the most part. thanks for any and every response in advance

If your last names are different, the state wouldn't even know the relationship. Does you GF know any other pro-MMJ docs?

I suppose if you ran across a real asshole for a prosecuting attorney and you got poped he might try that. But I really doubt a judge would stand for that. Doctors like judges are expected to have a certain ethical attitude that usually gives them the benefit of the doubt. If your grandfather would sign off I'd do it. But you would want to make sure that your ailment is one of the ones listed by the state.
