A Try At Rusty's Bonzai
Nope...I went out of my way to make sure that all the bud material was as gone as I could get it to go!...:beatdeadhorse:....Maybe not the thing to do?
This is just a practice run but I'm hopin' the plant makes it 'cause the smoke I've sampled from it is pretty kick-ass.Skihigh Reviewed by Skihigh on . A Try At Rusty's Bonzai Thought I'd give this a shot. I want to reveg so I can have clones. Looks like I'm gonna have to learn how to attach pics...again...:stoned: I'll be back! Hi Rusty..Thanks for stoppin' by.
I tried not to disturb the root ball other than the trim job...No shake it out...Tried to be as gentle as possible.
Oops about the cloning solution...Thought I saw it in your thread...
The cloth on the bottom is a piece of old thin tee shirt...???
Maybe I should flush today?... Or wait a few days?
My plan (I think) is to leave it alone until it needs water and keep it not so close to the lights so it will stretch a bit...Sound like the thing to do?\"We didn\'t inherit the earth from our parents. It\'s on loan to us from our children.\".....Kenyan Proverb

After some more thought, I think I'd wait till rootball dries-out a bit and carefully slip it out of the pot to remove the cloth. Then, flush well with properly ph'd water to try and release the cloning gel hormones.
No blazing 1000watts of light, but normal distance on outside edge of garden. She still wants/needs to photosynthesize.
I'll have to double-check the thread. I know I mentioned sprinkling a little rooting hormone powder to the rootball early in my thread, but found it ineffective, and possibly counter-productive. Thought I corrected that error later in the post, but will have a look.

My bad. I thought I had corrected the rooting hormone thing a while back. Must have been in someone else's thread. :stoned:
Looked through both of my re-veg threads:
Rusty's Re-Veg and
Rusty's Bonsai Downsizing
...and apparently I didn't ammend my technique to not include the rooting hormone. It's not that the rooting hormone will kill roots in moderation, as I did it for a year or so with the powder with no noticible ill effects. But once I stopped, no noticible change. Doubtful it's the cause of your plants' condition, but trimming roots without the hormone works fine.

Next time do an experiment Rusty, leave a tiny piece of bud. I bet you will find that it doesn't delay veg onset by much if at all and you will get MANY branches from the revegging bud sites.
Think of your buds like chocolate chip cookies: some people like em crunchy and some people like em chewy. Personally, I want them tanned golden brown but not crispy....and no one likes cold raw dough in the middle of their cookie.

Many branches that are packed in a ball so tightly that no light or air can penetrate, and holds water drops to the point of spoiling leaves and promoting disease or rot? No thanks. I prefer my way. It promotes a cleaner/healthier plant.
That's one of the reasons why I recommend plucking the buds. (that, and the flowering hormones contained within the plant material itself)
95% of what I post is personal experience, the rest I glean from experts in the plant biology field that have no financial ties to my garden.

Looks like it might work...
All the larger leaves dried up but there are some small leaves starting to show.
I went ahead yesterday and did a pretty good flush with PH'd well water and today a couple real small leaves came out.\"We didn\'t inherit the earth from our parents. It\'s on loan to us from our children.\".....Kenyan Proverb
