I have vegged under nothing but blue LEDs with great results. No reason 'pure' blue fluoros would not outperform white fluoros and probably MH for vegging.

As my blue LEDs power supply fried (DON'T BUY FROM GOTBOOST on E-BAY!), I was looking into a twin PLL biax fluoro setup with dual actinic bulbs that have one bulb centered at 420nm (purple/violet) and one at 460nm (blue).

There are also 'pure' red fluoros (but not in PLL/biax tubes) that I would like to try for flower. Philips Colored Pro T5 bulbs are in 2' and 4' lengths for around $28.

I like this setup. 2x$10 shoplights from walmart. 2x$18 450nm KinoFlo HO tubes. Note the fixure has a ballast and cord on each end (removed from the extra shoplight). Each bulb has it's own ballast so one bulb could be a different color at different times. I just got the bulbs in today. Bright! Stupid bright!

    Fluorescent Lamps

The kinoflo and desisti seem to be the better suited for growing. Honestly, I just got these so I can't say how well the really work but I can't see why they wouldn't. In fact, I can't see much at all right now. Damn things are BRIGHT! Camera does it no justice. Better than any petstore tube I've seen even though these are only running on 68watts. They might last longer too. I haven't got the rest of them yet (back ordered) and I have the rest of the grow to setup. I'm planning a bad ass PAD type thing.

Except the ratio of hermaphrodite to straight gendered dancers would be way higher than your average disco.
Think of your buds like chocolate chip cookies: some people like em crunchy and some people like em chewy. Personally, I want them tanned golden brown but not crispy....and no one likes cold raw dough in the middle of their cookie.

$35 for one tube? I guess that's not bad after a discount and a chick.
