    1000w HPS vs. 2 400w HPS

For the time being, I'm borrowing a 1000w HPS setup, I have a 5X10 growroom, with 8 foot cieling, I was thinking 2 400s can use my space better, I'll be growing 15-18 plants at a time, all on 12/12 light cycle. Am I thinking right here? Thanks

Most people will tell you need about 50 watts per square foot of growing space to produce top quaility bud. Using that as a reference you really need 2 1000 watt systems for the size grow space you have.

I don't plan on using all of the area I have available, I actually plan on building a veg chamber in there too. theroetically, I have 10'x20' of space available, but only plan on using a fraction of that.

    How about 2 x 600w?

The footprint of a 400w is only about 3' x 3', 600w is 4' x 4', and 1000w is 5' x 5', or there abouts... Anyways the 600w is said to be the more efficient of the 3.

Heat, ventilation and light leaks will pose a problem if not addressed in both sections of the growspace.

Ventilation is my main concern, as I intend to seal off the veg chamber from the rest of the room and use mylar and reflective tape to seal it off, as it is right now I can sprout and veg 4-6 plants in my back bathroom, that's actually working out okay, but when I get out of my run of autoflowering strains, I'll need the bigger vegging space. My grow area is inside a 10x20 wooden shed, summertime temps are going to be a concern for sure, I have a good AC I'll probably install out there. I was just so sketchy growing outdoors last season, I think it will help my anxiety issues to have my meds growing inside a locked building. :rastasmoke:

On a sidenote, I ordered some seeds a while back, and they got here today, White Widow by G13, LA Woman by DNA, Magic Bud by Paradise Seeds, and an unexpected surprise, a 5 pack of Ceres Skunk feminized.

light light light light light, fill it. ventilation isn't a problem if you have cool tube lights and an air conditioner/heater and a air purifier with a good co2 enrichment system. go big or go home and you'll find you'll get great results with ensured efficiency:rasta:
