New growth... spindly & curled under leaves! Help diagnose..
I'm having an issue. All plants looked healthy until about 2 days ago. Now on most plants the new growth is VERY spindly... super thin leaves that don't look healthy AT ALL. Also, some of the leaflets on the new leaves is curling under. Lastly, growth has slowed to nearly a halt! After 18 hours in the light I can't even notice a difference. Before this happened I could see a plant grow 2-3 inches over an 18-hour period.
PLEASE HELP!! No one is responding to this thread in the plant problems section so hopefully someone has some ideas here.
Additional info: 1000W HPS, Soil (FFOF) with 10% perlite added, these are clones that were transplanted 10 days ago, good ventilation, temps are in range but fluctuate from 60-80 between night/day, watering with distilled water when I can but also using tap water with a pH of about 8. Not feeding at all right now as I've heard FFOF can keep plants well-fed for about 3 weeks. Plants are in containers that are slightly too big... went from dixie cups to 8" pots (~1-2 gallon).
I'm hoping that this is a PH issue. I don't water them frequently, but when I do I give them a lot. Since they're in pots that are a bit big, I'm guessing the water stays in there for longer. So, you have pH 8 water that isn't draining very fast. Do you think this could be the issue? I'm going to get pH Down today, so if this is the issue it will be resolved soon.
Also, could heat fluctuations cause this at all? The grow room is not insulated well, so when the heat kicks off it cools down fast. But when the heat kicks on it heats up fast. So, the plants have temperatures that fluctuate more than I'd like them to. Even in the light cycle it can fluctuate 10 degrees (70-80).
Anyway, I hope some of you guys have some suggestions. My plants are not growing at all!!!lampost Reviewed by lampost on . New growth... spindly & curled under leaves! Help diagnose..
