glass piece question
I boil my glass piece very rarely (but need to soon) and am wondering, the resin chunks that come out in the water...can they be dried out and smoked or something or do I just rinse it all down the drain?

Dont boil your pipe,it weakens the temper of the glass therefore causing breakage. put your piece in a ziploc bag and put rubbing alcohol in there and let it sit(how long depends how much resin buildup you have). Then rinse with warm water. if you absolutely must smoke resin, then scrape your pipe first. Now that you are further educated please pass the info on. Take care of your pipes and they will take care of you, being careless with your pipes causes you to lose money.
How to properly clean a glass piece or any piece for that matter:
1. Get a ziploc bag
2. put your piece in there with enough iso alcohol to cover it
3. let it sit in there for a while(really depends how bad the pipe is)
4. after a while shake the bag up
5. take pipe out and rinse it out with the hottest water your hands can stand
6. any leftover residue can be easily removed with pipe cleaner sticks or Q-tips
7. after its dry load it up and toke
8. dont listen to bad advice!!

I've boiled my glass pieces plenty of times with no problems. And yes, you can smoke the resin that comes out. Pour out the water you boil the pipe in over a coffee filter, it is easier to collect the resin that way.

your wrong about boiling. your pipe is exposed to a hell of alot hotter temps while your combusting outof the bowl then it will ever reach in the boiling water. secondly scraping your pipe actually causes little scratches to form inside your pipe, which (over time) can weaken it. get your facts straight before you post here.

im alot older then a "poser teenie bopper" thank you very much. but tell me how how is your glass pipe going to break from boiling, but not break when you put the lighter to it? water boils at 212, weed combusts somewhere around 450 degrees, so if the heat were a problem, wouldnt you have more of a problem burning the bowl? glass breaks from stress. if your piece wasnt propperly kilned then yes boiling may break it. to bad cheap glass. good glass however, should stand the heat perfectly well.

I have a couple pieces and my method is alcohol, not boiling because of smell and my fear of breaking it. (not that it will but the thought gets me shooked)
The method i learned which I actually learned in youtube/as well as on this forum consists of.
The strongest rubbing alcohol you can find (CVS carries many types)
Epson salt/ or rice (depending on how big you pipe/bowl/bong is)
Shake,shake,shake
Repeat if you have to
My mini bubler (slave) takes about 6 min ti clean and thats like 1 week of use (i like my tools to be clean)
