I would LST your mother if I were you. Youll get branches that grow nice tight nodes being that its a horizontal lst grow and they will all sprout usable clones.

Just a thought. Ive taken about 23 clones from my mother. I had no more space so I couldnt take cuttings. Now shes so massive shes growing along the roof as shes too tall hahha.

thanks for the ideas peeps and i WILL be taking your advice.. when she has started to branch out anyway.. i will be lst'ing the top few branches to make a nice even cloning feild.. ha ha im giving myself the laughs.. time to medicate more
btw.. a stupid thought.. i am gonna be buying a 250w HPS bulb for the main grow area.. any thoughs on what would be the best temp? (ex. 2000k 2100k 2700k...) and brands? i am looking at the cheap-y model on 1000bulbs.. i like it.. only $8 + shipping.. is it too good to be true?

haha its ok. Topping a plant isnt that bad. If you topped with 2 true nodes you will get 4 big ass branches. All you need to do is tie them down as well and they will eventually grow thier nodes out as well which you can take for clones. Not only do you stop the plant from growing any higher with the main stem but you also release the hormones that caused the plant to shoot up into those 4 branches, so growth willbe stimulated there and they will get very big. You can also try, which if you think about it it makes sence. Grow out those 4 arms to have say 7-10 nodes, then top that branch, same thing will happen all those nodes will spit out the cuttings and they will be strong. My 16 Clones are doing so nice with the top I just gave them. Nothing changed at all, still 24/7 light, no transplant or nothing. They are recovering very very nicely.

Generally tho you do want to let that tip grow and not top for a while to get a whole crap load more branches that can make branches. Making a mother was a bitch for me b.c I wanted some herbs now. I grow for personal use, I got back pain n shit lol. But it took about 2months before I could take cuttings. If you take cuttings too soon you will probably stress her out hardcore and you will not get as many cuts as you could have. Fun Fun

when you top (or LST for that matter) you are re-routing the growth hormone auxin from the apical meristem (the part that is responsible for depositing new cells before and behind it aka growth) to auxillary bud sites. this makes branches shoot from those sites. so when you top this MAKES the plant bush out.

As any zen bonsai master will tell you, pruning is an art. Luckily you're dealing with an aggressive and efficient plant here so I say don't be afraid to experiment and learn from your experimentation.

Looking hot, by the way. Can't wait to see it through.
