Ok, quick ( and probably dumb ) question.

Would a nurse practitioner in Texas be able to sign my paperwork? Texas doesn't have any kind of medicinal program, but does it matter as long as that doctor/nurse meets the medical eligibility requirements?

Texas does not recognize medical marijuana so you are out of luck. No doctor in that state would write a recommendation because it would do no good. No dispensaries means nowhere to get it other than from dealers on the street....which is illeagal. Sorry man....but have faith because I believe this will change in this country sooner than later! Legalize it!

I think your best bet would be to travel to Santa Fe. I bet there are several possibilities there. I know that there are folks who will reccomend in Taos, Santa Fe, and Los Alamos for sure. Once the new wears off this law I will bet there are a whole bunch of nurse practitioners that will be available.

Las Cruces has a big population of folks that enjoy herb as well as a very politically liberal crowd. A whole bunch of Cali folks there. I would imagine that there are several people that would do it if approached right.

It wont take long for this to catch like wildfire. I read somewhere that Arizona is going to do MMJ Cali style. All states west of the rockies are going to pop wide open one of these days soon.

    ...Shoulda been years ago.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I have 1 recommendation already ( had to drive 5 hours to get it ) , Im just trying to get a second, but some doors may have opened up in the few hours that have passed since I started this thread, so hopefully in the next few weeks Ill get my other recommendation. A clinic ANYWHERE in the state specifically for this purpose would be amazing, especially for those of us in the more conservative parts of the state.

Lol, yeah from what I've been hearing it's the whole southern half. It's weird how it seems like the doctors down here are TRYING to keep people on pharmaceuticals. My doc is giving me 60 percocet 10/325's a week and I TOLD the S.O.B. that Im abusing them and yet he will keep writing that script week after week. Im 25 years old and have already been through rehab for pills. It's sad that I have to break the law and hide things from my son and the rest of society just to get actual relief, yet if I wanna get f*cked up, all I gotta do is call up my pcp.

So maybe we should organize a trip to Santa Fe in the spring. Get a purple school bus and make a trip across the state and get as many people involved as we can. We can have a smoke in on the square to protest the lack of willing doctors across the state. Santa Feans just LOVE a good protest. We could call the Santa Fe New Mexican and the Albuquerque Journal, and make a splash in the paper. We could get with the few doctors that are willing and schedule as many interviews as possible. We might get a speaker or two from the local growers and that state senator fellow from Albuquerque that supports MMJ.

Who is up for a little old fashioned hippy type protest?

If I have my card by then, Im down to shake things up a little bit. I was actually thinking about getting with a reporter buddy down here and doing a similar type story and showing people that the days of " Reefer Madness " are gone, but I like your idea MUCH better. The only way we are gonna get anything to change is if we unify and make the message loud and clear. We need our medicine. Props bob.
