I was in Albucrazy today, at the surplus store on Central. They have several very nice brass seives...The real McCoy... 20 bucks apiece. Cant go wrong and you can use 'em forever. These are scientific and geological seives with brass cloth. They stack one on top of the other and are perfect! They even have some nice round mirrors that you could put underneath and use it as a dry screen. I got me a couple. I am shining 'em up with brass polish right now!

This is how a hillbilly from the mountains of New Mexico does it...

The primary screen or "work bag" is a 5 gallon paint strainer from Sherwin Williams. Get 'em for about a buck apiece and they fit a 5 gallon bucket perfectly. I use about 1/4 of a bag of screened material and put it INSIDE the paint fillter and wiretie it shut. Then just work the bag through the ice water and all the CRAP stays INSIDE the bag. I use a 5 gallon Igloo water cooler so the ice wont melt and all stays cold. Put in about 3 gallons of slushy water. You can wring the bag out once every five minutes or so five or six times...Just like washing a pair of socks. Then let it set for an hour or so and all settle to the bottom. Siphon all of the water through your screens. When it gets close to the bottom use the siphon to vacuum up the sludge at the bottom and take it through the sceen set.

...do it twice or three times. Works like a charm!

The groovy part is that it only costs a few bucks for a couple of pieces of seive cloth. Use Nytex calendared nylon. You can buy it by the square foot from Wildlife Suppply Co. Wildlife Supply Company - Wildlife Supply Company. They use 'em for plankton. Stretch the cloth over an embroidery hoop and it makes a perfect screen.

The size of your screen depends on the size of your trichromes...and the trash that is in them. In the southwest there is a problem with sand and sand is BIG...you get it on the goodie screen. Indica and most indoor trichromes will hang on a 50 um and only trash goes through. Sativa and bud grown in the hot dry sun will pass right through a 50 um.

I use a 210 um, 153 um, and a 53 um. The 153 is a great screen to trim, roll, and beat your buds against for dry hash.
