    Plants Drooping, yellowing also

Plants are drooping at around 11pm every night. In the morning they look better, then they droop again.

What is your experience level? (first timer, novice, experienced...) Novice

What type of hydro set-up are you running? Top feed, hydroton

    Your Equipment:
    A) Type and wattage of lights. (MH, HPS, CFL's, tube fluorescents, LED's) 1000w HPS
    B) Distance from tops? 20"
    C) Reflector type? (cool tube set-up, bat wing, enclosed reflector, bare bulb...)Enclosed w/ glass
    D) What are the bulb wattages, kelvin ratings, and schedule?1000w, 18/6
    E) Is there a consistent fresh air supply?Yes
    F) Do you have an exhaust fan and a circulation fan?Yes
    G) Size of reservoir?30 gal
    H) What medium if applicable. Hydroton w Rapid Rooters

    Your nutrients and water:
    I) If using rockwoll for clones or seedlings, did you rinse the cubes well, with properly ph'd water?
    J) Source of water. (tap or filtered) What's it's ph? RO water 7.0
    K) Specific brand and N-P-K ratio for each bottle. List dosages quantity per gallon) and current feeding schedule. Advanced Nutrients 3-Part GMB, Cal-Mag Plus, Plant success Mycorrhiza w/beneficial bacteria. 4x15min
    L) What is the ec/ppm of your unadjusted tap (or filtered) water? 17ppm
    M) What is the ec/ppm of your nutrient solution?400ppm
    N) What is the temperature of your nutrient solution? (reservoir high and low temps)64f-70f
    O) Does your ec/ppm show a rise or fall when you do your daily PPM check?Yes, slightly lower
    P) Does the ph fluctuate? Yes, for the first few days after a change, it rises from 5.3 to 6.0 after about 8 hours. A week after, its pretty steady 5.3-5.7/8 in 8 hours.
    Q) Do you foliar feed? If so, with what, how often, and at what time do you
spray? (Just after lights come on, just before they go out...)No
    R) How often do you replace reservoir water/nutes? What does it look like before changes? (clear, foamy, green, brown...)Every week, looks brownish.

    Your growroom:
    S) What size of closet, room or hut? 8'x6'x8'
    T) What are the temps and humidity levels while lights are on? ...With lights off?73-78 lights on, 63-65 lights off
    U) Have you seen signs of insects in the growroom? No
    V) Are the roots long and white, or brown and slimy?Roots are mostly white, but the parts coming through the bottom of the pots are looking a little dry and brown

    Your strain:
    W) What strain are you growing? (Indica dominate or Sativa dom?) AK48, random bagseed from quality herb.
    X) From seeds or clones? Seed
    Y) Is this an autoflower strain? No

Thank you in advance for the help, I've had some quality advice from people on this message board and I dearly appreciate it.

not sure about the yellow (although the simple answer in the veg states is always a lack of either Magnesium or Nitrogren).. But drooping is usually a result of either over watering or under watering..

Yeah, the under/overwater dilemma. This is the hardest for me to figure out. I've tried 4x 15min, 6x15min. If I had a digital timer I could play with it more, but I don't, so I'm going to figure this out with what I've got.

I also just read that strong air circulation, combined with low humidity, will make the leaves droop. How true is this? My humidity is never above 26% and I have a few fans in the room. One for intake, one pushing air through the lights and out of the room, one exhaust at the ceiling level. Also a small stationary, and an oscillating fan blowing on the plants.

I'd also like to add that the 2 AK48 plants (which are the only KNOWN genetics, and the most important considering the SOG I plan to start) are mostly unaffected as far as the drooping. They're not really yellowing too much either. The others are drooping far more than these two.

I'm much more concerned about the droop than the color, but I'm not sure if they're connected either.

So, when your plants droop are they during the on or off cycle and how long into it does start to droop. I know you said 11pm every night, but is your lights still on and how much longer?

The yellow can almost be sure it's a nitrogen deficiency considering the edges are not burnt on your leaves. Increase the Nitrogen and see how that goes. I can ALMOST guarantee that is the yellowing problem.

Yea, all genetics will play a part on the vigor and resistance to pests, mold, etc....If they are bagseed, then there is a good chance that is also a reason. Not to mention they are 2 different genetics, so they need different feedings ya know.

Thank you for the quick replies...

The lights come on at 8am and they're off at 2am. Somewhere between 14 and 16 hours into the light cycle is when they droop. It doesn't take longer than an hour. One of them didn't recover too well today, but the others are looking ok.

This is another dilemma for me, I'm sure I should just play to the strengths of these two. They really are the heart of my program, but I just can't ignore the others. I'm not entirely sure what to do about this.

Maybe I should just transplant them all into soil and save the system for the SOG... probably will after I take the first round of clones.

I know someone would ask this question, sorry I didn't include this in the original form.

another thing you might want to consider is using a 1000w Metal Halide bulb during this stage.. the bulbs are like 30 bucks maybe fifty at the most, you can get them anywhere.. the HPS is only needed in the flowering stage... plus You will get a much better and quicker result because the spectrums of light vary widely with those bulbs.. different strands vary greatly in thier responses.. i.e. my white widows have yellow shade leaves all the way up but my Monsters do not.. they have both been on the same everything all the way through.. The MH bulb will give the plants what they need to make strong stems and broader leaves.. thus better and healthier plants. Try that.
