Romer no longer sponsoring mmj bill!

I think it's cool. We're okay. It might be a fight. But it will be a quick and rather bloodless one at that.

I think that perspective is the operative word here. The fact is that the VAST majority of this "campaign" of ours has been won already. Over the past 40 years, many brave (and crazy) folks who saw the herb for what it was, have SLOWLY, inch by inch, taken the HIGH GROUND on this subject. Victory IS Ours.

The facts remain that there is little to no real threat to MMJ or even the dispensary model. Sure, there are still some right wingers who the powers that be need to let bark so that they may show their consitituents that they haven't gone "soft on crime". But they are small and weak, and they know it. But their people want to "fight the good fight". You know, with all of us pot heads tearing society up.

Amendment 20 is going nowhere. What % would that bill pass by now? With all of the older people who have died, and all the younger people that have come of voting age in the past 10+ years.

These cities are broke. I just don't see them saying, "Nah, we're good on cash. Let's get rid of a proven money source". There are a LOT of local level people that from what I can gather are PUMPED about the infusion of money. A lot of these people may be the straight lace type, but they know they NEED that money.

VERY NICE INDEED! We the people truly have power if we use it correctly. Talking with Warren Edson the other day..he specifically said that the law enforcement bills doesn't really have a chance..because they dont even have a sponsor for that bill. And if Romers sponsored bill gets pulled then there chances are even less of passing any of it. We need to show in force tonight and make our stance firm. This is really good news for MMJ. Positive vibes to all who are in the fight!

Romer is being a baby. He doesn't have the fortitude to see things through, which is fine because his plan sucked. Behind closed doors, he knew he couldn't get his bill passed, so he sends out a loathing criticism of the MMJ community blaming us for his own failures. He's trying to save face.

Why does the MMJ community need to meet the law enforcement community half way? Fuck them. Amendment 20 was the will of the voters, so why abandon it?

The law enforcement bill doesn't have a sponsor, and even if it did, I don't think it would be likely to pass. The language would restrict the caregiver role to an arbitrary number of 5, putting an end to the dispensary model and pushing everything back to the black market. Which would mean no state tax revenue. Plus, the bill would be met with unprecedented and expensive litigation that would bring national attention. Nobody wants that.

I think Romer was the only person with any real chance at making any significant changes to MMJ policy and he failed. I also see it as a victory for the MMJ community. Lets cross our fingers!

I keep hearing that the lousy economy will drive legalization. That's pot dreams, fantasies only. It's time to get real.

The maybe possible tax money from legal MJ or MMJ takes back seat to the already in-pocket money leo gets from our seizure laws, and if you think they'll give up any of that right without being drug screaming and hollering to it you're naive enough to be dangerous.

Here's a real simple leo argument: "Mr/Ms Pol, if you legalize this we will lose $X,XXX,XXX in funding, money we get from drug seizures. If we do, you have to choose between replacing that money or reducing services. And being opposed by us in the next election, painted as soft on crime/terrorism."

Romer's bill was a mess, a stereotypically bureaucratic liberal over-reaction. Leo's will be much worse, probably an attempt to turn the clock back a year or more.

We do need to get active, but I've got my doubts about the positive effects of mass efforts. Leo's already got the media on their side, telling their story (good job, Sonny Jackson). And since I'm still waiting for my actual license, I'm still pretty paranoid about being leo photographed and databased at gatherings. (Been there, done that - in a lot less invasive, fear-making time.)

I'd encourage you to find your own ways to support sanity here, either supporting organizations with a less-confrontational attitude or personally by contact with your representatives. Don't forget talking with elected official's staff people - they have a lot of influence, in some cases.

i can agree with that the leo's are the ones really behind the scenes trying to stir shit up.they see it as there power slipping away.they also think as u stated above that without all the extra funding guess what big power trip leo starts getting laid off. they are worried and are now more power hungry than ever.i think if it was'nt for the leo's fighting so hard for this the state would not care much at all as they see $$ for the state not leo.but we all know every body has buddies in power and are trying to use that to get there way.

i say we need to draft a counter bill that clears up any grey areas in the law and make it to where it's protecting us not giving them more power to kick your door in as they feel the need.
