well, this is the spiritual life forum. so thats what is being discussed. There's not really any reason to argue though, people are far too influential and if they need to believe in something they will. Even if it's as ridiculous as all that bullshit in the bible.

I say if God wants everyone to follow him, why doesn't he just do something crazy and impossible like he seemed to on a daily basis 2000 year ago? That would be a perfect solution to get all us athiests praying. Too bad it will never happen, since all of those stories are a big joke...

The only things in the bible that are historically accurate are the things that the bible stole from other religions. First off, there are many, many things in the babble, errr.... I mean bible, that are proven WRONG. Age of the earth, length of time humans have been on earth, that the sun and other planets revolving around the earth, etc, etc, etc. It goes on forever. Besides, a few tidbits of fact laced throughout a book doesn't make the whole thing true, and is by no means unique. The Harry Potter books talk about a subway in London. So since we can prove that there actually IS a subway system in Lonon, does that mean that everything written in the books are true? Hell no, it doesn't mean anything! But that's essentially exactly what you're saying about the bible.

Besides, every other religious text has SOME historical truth in it as well. So by your logic, they are also proven historical documents and should be believed in whole-heartedly.

you are exploring into some deeper mysteries of god so pay close attention and try not to get lost...

if god did not create some crazy and impossible to understand aspects to existence then it would be way too obvious that a creator really was behind it all. if that were the case then it wouldn't take a lot of faith (aka believing things that sound totally retarded to even the simplest of logical minds)...

that is why god threw some twists in like planting seemingly millions of year old fossils into an earth that is only 6,000 or so years old.. to purposefully stump anyone trying to understand the world objectively through observation. see, god loves faith. he feeds on this blind obedience and it brings him joy and that is the ultimate point of existence... to make god feel happy. the blinder and more outrageous the faith, the more it gets god off. that is afterall why he created us. personal pleasure. is that selfish or sinful? no! of course not... his universe, his rules. of course god controls karma... if you don't do what he says he will pound you into dust. if you do what he says he will think about not pounding you into dust, but he will never let you forget that he has the right to pound you any time he wants because you were born messed up (aka original sin)! that sounds so negative so i prefer to look at it like this.. "think of how gracious god is that he even allows some of us to be saved... he didn't have to... he is soooooooooooooooooo good!"

Also, in the bible there are stories(that i believe are more of an example than true) that say how God whipes out cities when everyone is commiting sin and doing wrong... I remember one story called (soddom and gumora) correct me if im wrong with the spelling but my point is why dosent GOD whipe out all of the US??? Why have an earthquake in Haiti where shit is already bad???

well god stopped giving such huge spectacular signs of his existence long ago for a simple reason. too many people where starting to believe! he still had this great creative idea of a giant end of days battle between light and dark that still hadn't been carried out. if everyone got saved then there would be no battle and existence would end so anti-climatically. that is why he doesn't wipe out whole nations anymore.

I was brought up as a Catholic but since getting the sence to realize that most organized religon's are just business's i left the church.I still consider myself a follower of Christ,i just cant see how confessing my sins to a priest will get me into heven.is he closer to god or does he just have a direct line to him that i dont?I taught God was all around us and within us.And how can a 600 years old year old man and his wife, sons and daughter-in-laws (Genesis 6:18) build an arc big enough to hold two of every animal and enough food to feed them all for 150 days?and if adam and eve only had 2 sons where did the rest of us come from,i mean did they fuck their mother?:jointsmile:

You only answered 1 of my question's,what about the question about Noah or priest's being closer to God?An i just read your post reguarding being born with original sin so,you think a newborn that dies a few hour's after being born or a child that dies during birth will spend an eternaty in hell?(You sick fuck :S4: if anyone's going to hell it's you).And i can see you never studied even basic geneitics,otherwise you would know that the genes from a man,a woman and their 2 son's could'ent last more than 4 generation's(max).Before they would die out due to the size of the genepool.Beside's birth defect's and abnomalite's,after the first genaration female's would be 50% less likely to be able to carry a child,after the 2nd,75% less likely,after the 3rd 97.5% less likely and for the 4th generation female's would never be able to have childen. Even if god gave them magic genes how do you explain black,white,yellow, red,tan or olive skined people,eyes that are blue,green,brown or grey,how do you explain all the different hair types dark,bright,curly,straight i mean come on i belive in God but you take the cake,the bible was written over 400 yrs after the death of Christ.God did'ent wisper in someones ear what to write in the Bible,you do know that,dont you?
