How Hard is DWC to Mess Up?

During the course of my test run while learning Hydro, I encountered so many issues and problems that I am now seriously considering switching to DWC/ Bubble buckets. I am going to have to redesign my current system since it leaks like a siv, on top of being too difficult to manage. My local hydro store has a very neat bucket lid system that I could use as a starting point. They are cheap and easy to manage and wouldn't need anything more then a high powered air pump and some bubble stones. The more I research DWC the more I like it. However I have seen people complain about how difficult they are too keep balanced. Since I already suffer from heat and cold snaps, I wonder if DWC is the wrong way to be thinking. For example, I discovered my res temp was 110 degrees yesterday. It took me a good long while to get that under control and while my plants didn't much care for it, they aren't all dead because some of the roots were in the res. Will DWC allow me to correct these kinds of issues or will it be game over if I made that kind of mistake again. I guess I am really wondering how hard is it to keep DWC water healthy? As long as I have a ton of bubbles running in there nothing can grow in the water right? If I was completely unable to get my DWC buckets below 90 degrees, would that cause root rot even with tons of bubbles and peroxide?

it took me many years to work up the courage to go hydroponic ... thanks to xcrispi and others, it was so simple, and trouble-free ... mostly, keep your reservoir temps down, 70-75f ... I also use Fox Farm nutrients exclusively, and I just go by the Fox Farm Feeding Schedule, they post it on their website, and its also on their free brochures, you find in nurseries, etc ... I used some local spring water, which pH'd pretty good, and went by their schedule ... although I checked pH and ppm daily, it didn't need much fiddling, the FF was almost perfect, with the spring water I was using ... your water, of course, may be a whole different situation ... FF gave me the best plants I've ever grown :thumbsup:

you need to recirculate your system, that will help keep temps down, too ... I added a large rubbermaid tub, outside the growing cabinet, and recirculated, no probs with my temps :thumbsup: ... plus, with the main reservoir being outside the cabinet, adding water, pH'ing, etc, was convenient, and didnt disturb lighting schedules ...

Good idea on moving a separate res outside of the grow room. I think that would work pretty good in my situation.
