Medical Marijuana - Smelly Neighbours

I am a former drug addict and marijuana was a big part of my life for a long time. So, when I am confronted with the smell, I have a great deal of struggle to stop myself from jumping the fence and joining him.

I am a former tobacco smoker and I experience similar triggers when people light up around me. The difference is I don't whinge and don't expect other people to change their behaviour to make things easier for me. My advice is accept the fact that other people smoke and stop complaining, you will soon learn how to deal with your triggers in a more positive manner.

If it is really so hard for you to deal with, move.

before that id like to state that what your neighbor is doing is 100% within his rights. do you complain to people who smoke cigs outside too?

with that said, smoke is smoke. its bad for you, EVEN WEED SMOKE. if i was smoking on my front porch and someone lived close enough to me that they got a good wiff of it every time i smoked and they told me they didnt like it i would make a reasonable effort to make it so my smoke did not bother them.

what you should do is help this neighbor set up a carbon filtration system in one of his rooms. buy a carbon filter, a powerful enough exaust fan to pull all that smoke out, and a little stopper for the vents in that room when hes smoking. and make sure he leaves the fan on and the plugs over the vent for a good 30 minutes at least after his done smoking. the landlord should be the one paying for this vent system.

in the same vein i think he has the right to medicate/get high whatever in his own home that he pays for untill there is a law stateing otherwise (like that town in cali).
id bitch at the landlord more than anything, get that heating/venting system partitioned. this is a very common problem. if i lived above some one that smoked cigs id bitch to high heavin to my landlord.

there are filters out their that are not to expensive even as cheep as 5 dollars, that would stop all this, the cheapest one I have seen is called "Hello Neighbor"

this is not it but the closest thing I could find, the hello neighbors they sell at smoke shops or head shops usually where they have bongs and papers they have hello neighborers they look like a chap stick or a lip stick container

I don't think what OP is asking/doing is unreasonable. If I had neighbors or people in the same building that scream all the time or bang stuff 24/7, I would try to ask them to stop or take it to someone higher. In other words, the smell is clearly bothering OP, so it makes sense to try and solve the problem rather than complain about it and do nothing. I doubt the whole neighborhood smells afterward though.

Ask him to find a way to mask the smell more, and if he straight up doesnt then go to someone higher, and if they cant do anything find a way to get rid of it in your house.

I live in Canada and was wondering if anyone has had a similar experience to what I am having at this time. I live in a rental house next to another rental house. Both landlords live off site. The neighbour next door smokes marijuana and claims he has medical permission. He used to smoke indoors, but his upstairs neighbour (friends of mine with two small children) asked him to stop as they share a heating system and the whole house smells when he smokes. So he started smoking outside. Now the neighbourhood smells when he smokes. When I mentioned it to the neighbour landlord, he told me to go to the proper authorities. I was told by a law enforcement officer, there was nothing they could do. I would have to write a letter of complaint to the landlord. To make a long story short; has anyone out there had any success in resolving a similar issue, and what did you do?

If i was in a similar issue, i'd quit being a pussy i bet you smoke tobacco, nobody likes smelling that shit either
