~*Cutting Question*~
Alright, check this out......
I was sitting here contemplating on this for awhile and decided to ask the board before making any rash decisions.
Well, I have had this OG growing for a few months and it has BEEN ready to take cuttings from a month ago, but I LSTd it and let it get bigger. Well now I want to take cuttings from it, but I always understood that you don't want to remove more than 50% growth maximum, but your not supposed to take off anymore than 30% of the growth (first thing I learned so I went with it). So, this is where the question comes in.
Why does it matter if I take more than 50% off? Why not 3/4 of the growth?
Reason I ask really, is because I want to know how long (roughly) does it take to see regular growth again? What would be the difference between taking off only 50% to 75% in "recovery time" per-se?!?
If the question is confusing then let me know and I will be more than glad to reword it for easier understanding. I was in a rush to write it and just hoping for the best! lol :stoned:Italiano715 Reviewed by Italiano715 on . ~*Cutting Question*~ Alright, check this out...... I've seen people take up to 95% off with good results. Now, I've never done more than a few cuttings at a time though so I don't have any personal experience with it. As long as you leave at least one growing tip per branch the branch will stay alive and nutrient. Check out this link:

They say you can take cuttings every two weeks or so, but seeing as your taking more off than the so called, recommended amount, then I figured it take longer to rejuvenate from the 75% taken off and wanted to know that amount in days more....Are you following me?
Listen, OBVIOUSLY I said the same question like 4 different ways, but I'm trying to get the question off directly and as many ways for everybody to typically understand. Hopefully this time I got all the angles covered!

That's why I posted the link: if you go into the link in the first post (outside link so I didn't post it directly), and go 3/4 way down the page it shows an example of a plant being cut back probably 90% and how much growth it showed after only 12 days...nothing about revegging

Why not just take 100% of her in cuttings, and mother out one of the clones? It'll help out not having a large plant taking up space.
Just how I roll, so I thought I would throw it out there.

So, I also was told you don't want to spray the cuttings all the time but more so spray the dome instead and the plants only sometimes. I guess this is more so of wondering different techniques people use towards taking care of their cuttings till they root.
Matter of fact, first time I took cuttings, I forgot to braise the bottom of the cut to help promote root growth and it took the cuttings FOREVER to clone. Over 2 weeks! Lesson learned.

I can tell you that I saw almost no dif in just taking 30% over 50% or even 90% of a 3 foot mother. It may depend on strain but Hawaiin and Papaya recover very quick if I only leave 2 shoots per branch. I was taking more than 50 each time just to keep it trimmed back.
We just took 40 clones off a hawaiian the other day and mother was only a month or so from clone herself. She looks bare but in just a few days growth all over.
