It all depends on how big you want it. I think the rule of thumb is at least 1 gal for every foot of final height.

Wow, 7 gallons is a big pot. Redtails is right - about 1 gallon per foot. Most dont go larger than 3 gallons but it will depend on the space you have.

i like that rule of thumb but..
i have a couple lil plants that are kinda in disagreement with that.. i have a 2.5 footer in a one gal pot and she loves life.. and a 1-1.25 footer in a 3 gal and she DOESN"T!!
    :wtf: life right?

Depends on the strain, your lighting, your available headroom, and to a certain extent...your experience level. The most successful gardeners set-up and operate under the 1 foot per gallon rule of thumb as a guideline, not a hard and fast rule.

There are so many different strains and crosses that a hard and fast rule is unobtainable. For instance...a sativa dominate cross will likely have a taller/more lanky growth habit than an indica dominate cross.

If growing from bagseed, it's a good guideline. If you've purchased the seeds, you can read-up on the habits of that strain online.

sounds like they will do fine..
just make sure you follow at least a basic repotting schedule..
they will thank you for not just dumping em into the 5 gal buckets.
