Hi all, I have a sick plant thats just getting worse. If anyone can shed any light on this id appreciate it.
Growing in coco in 6l pots under a 250w cfl, Watering genrally every 2-3 days sometimes 4. PH 5.7-6.0, after some research I thought it was a N def and added some N but it hasnt helped. Now im thinking MG def or maybe nute burn? Plant is 3 weeks old, been fed once on 1/5 strengh nutes.

I'd say slightly overwatered seeing as it looks as though it is evenly absorbing the nutrients of all the leaves. If I'm wrong, correctt it, but that's my :twocents:

What are air temps like. I'm thinking it could be heat stress?

Both, tip burn suggested nute burn (at some stage in the past) and zebra striped leaves suggest magnesium.

What are you using for nutrients and are they balanced for coco?

temps are 60-65f night and 75-82f day, There is an osilating fan.

I'm using a specific nutrients for coco called ionic. Should I get some Magnesium supplements?

I grow in soil, but that sure looks like fertilizer burn to me.

I second the Nute burn. If you want to add something that might help I suggest Nitrozyme, when this young, as a tank feed, low dose, maybe 1/2 at most. Once it as recovered a bit, then some foliar spray. That stuff really kicked my plants into super health!

For watering you might want to try watering once and then waiting until the leaves droop a little to really get an idea of the kind of watering cycle your going to be on. I've come to the conclusion that your main concern throughout this grow should be to maintain the ph at 6.8 during veg and 6.5 during flowering. During the veg cycle, flush with ph'd 6.8 water at least once a month to get rid of old nutes and the junk that builds up, also to get your ph back in order just in case your fertilizer has brought it down over time. Do the same for flowering except with ph'd 6.5 water.

As far as fertizling goes, make sure there weren't any nutes in coco, i've never used so i'm unfamiliar. 1/5 isn't strong at all but some plants are more sensitive than others when it comes to plant food. Get nutes for veg and nutes for flower. I'm going to assume you've read about the difference between them, because it can make a big difference.

Flushing has worked wonders for me when I'm in dyer need of a cure, so let us know how it turns out.

Duuude, coco is an organic medium for hydroponic growing, pH 5.8 - 6.2. It might 'feel' like soil growing, but it's not the same deal as soil.

Nice to know everyone has overfed a plant at some stage, but if it were only nute burn the plant wouldn't have pale striped leaves. Interveinal chlorosis, beginning in the older leaves and progressing up the plant is a classic sign of Mg deficiency.

John, I pre treat plain coco with fine ground dolomite before planting. It helps make up for the calcium scavenging you see with coco and prevents Mg deficiency. Before boosting with dolomite I used to have to treat with calmag during the grow to ward of symptoms of deficiency.

Thanks for the very informative comments, I did have the PH at 6.5 which I think has caused a lock out, I treated it like soil

I started flushing it yesterday with a PH of 5.6-5.8 and the run off was around 6.3 which I didnt think was too bad. When I flushed I added a very very small dosage of liquid nitrogen so hopefully it will help.
Where is best to purchase cal-mag or epsion salt, a chemist possibly?

I'll take another pic soon, it is worsening.
