Can any experienced growers recommened this grow kit

I have decided as my new years resolution that I am going to grow my own herb rather than fork out my hard earned cash for shit weed!

I'm not getting into how bad the weed here is at the mo as I am sure you are all only too familiar with the current state of our weed supply...

Ok here is what I have to work with, the only logical area that I can use is my attic. Space is limited and neighbours would be a major concern.
I should mention that the attic has never been used so I am going to have to clean it out and run an extension cord through the ceiling from the bedroom.

There is plenty of space in the attic for a grow room & I'm thinking of buying one of those homebox grow tents to start with.

I'm looking to grow 4-8 plants in this grow tent with a 400watt light.
I am hoping to get this set up within the next few weeks as we are going to holland for the weekend so I'm gonna grab some good feminised white widow seeds while i'm there. Would the tempreture in the attic affect the veg/flowering stage as it would be cold in the attic & how bad would the smell be even with the help of the carbon filter? I'm hoping to do this without attracting too much attention from the neighbours....
I have no experience growing any plants so any advise would be greatly appreciated.

the tents are ok but you will be up and down all the time.
Cant do it if ya live with ur old pair.
if not i would say make the attic into a room
since no one will use it anyway and dont have to buy the tent then.
insulation in the floor boards and then in the roof rafters before plasterboard's go on and plaster and paint white room larger than tent.
you would have to insulate the attic anyway. as the heat change between night and day. and vent for it.
fresh air in and then filtered air out.
and cut down on the noise of the fans into the rooms below.
so ya can set up seed area, young plants, then those in bloom.
Ya can keep a rotation going, by keeping a mother plant and clone it no need to buy any more seeds. SAVE SAVE SAVE
i (would)use the eco lights and they are grand and the different light spectrum, for the different phase of growth.
and ya can set up a water barrel in the room for ya self.
can tap into the water tank up there and treat the water before use.

ya know how people talk and some little rat hears and saves his own neck by landing you in it
but will save cash if heavy smoker

don't know if I'd buy grow gear from ebay. You might want to try somewhere established like Hydroponics Grow Shop - Indoor gardening hydroponic systems and plant growing equipment.
