Possibly moldy weed

So I picked up an ounce of low end stuff. I packed up a bowl and smoked it and my chest hurt from it. Now I'm not sure that it was just the weed, I could have been on the verge of getting sick and I haven't smoked for about 2 months. I looked at it and there seems to be all these little white dots all over and through out the buds. It doesn't look fuzzy or like there is webbing in it. Just small white dots everywhere. Has anyone had this before? I have seen it a few times and I never know what to do. I really don't want to waste the whole ounce. I have cooked with weed that was a little moldy before and had no problems but I am sure there are a lot of people who would say its done for and get rid of it. Would cooking in a crock pot for 12 hours kill off anything bad in there? or would I be cooking up some homemade high strength penicillin? or am I way off and its not mold but something else?

that doesn't sound good, unfortunately... a white soft powder that's sort of a thin film could be a bloom and is not considered harmful at all ... look up cigar bloom .. its more like an opaque coloring .. but it doesn't appear in dots, that is possibly bad news .. how were you storing it, did it get too humid? I have used these packets called "Save My Stash" and they are pretty bulletproof for keeping herbs at the right humidity level. I would do some research and you definitely might have to trash that weed if it doesn't seem safe.imp:

uh not to sound like an ass... but those wouldn't happen to be thc crystals, would it? because all the weed i've ever gotten my whole life has had those white little specs on it... they get you high smoke it haha:thumbsup:

No, these spots are spread out and bigger. It's not the trichomes. About the size fruit fly. I'm pretty sure it was mold.

The only thing that scares me is the fact that you said it was cheap. Not saying that expensive weed can't have mold however I sometimes bump into moldy weed when i keep trying to find a better deal...I've learned cheaper isn't always better.

Nah, I ended up cooking with it. Made capsules. Pretty sure it was moldy though. I got a nasty cold the night I first tried them. After that I was fine. Probably built up an immunity to it. I wouldn't recommend doing the same though. Like I said I got really sick the first night and the cold lasted a few days. Next time I'll probably throw it out, or better yet notice it before I buy.

:jointsmile: ive wondered that too.i had some meds that had little white balls/specks
in it spaced here and there.i asked some who wasnt much more experienced than me about it and they assumed it was mold to.makes sinse.i think if they got larger over time in humid area it would increase.mine was i think from being dense buds when it finishing blooming.
i went to a plant store and they informed me that there is a spray to
use on the buds to prevent mold.this years crop of meds[im a med patient]
im gonna spray the buds.the shop told me it should last about 45days between applications.probably only have to use it once during bloom.
hope this usefull info for you and for in the future if you grow your own meds.

to bypass that mold you can always make butane oil.i think this might work,not sure but makes sence to me.ask around to be sure.

One thing you can do is get some rubbing alcohol and soaking the effected plant for about 10-15 minutes. Then strain with a cheese cloth or old tee shirt, get out as much liquid as you can. Then put a fan near a bowl or pan of this fluid and have it blow directly on it. In a few days you will have a great black sticky hash.
