Procyon Breakdown
I have a Procyon LED grow light that I have had a little under a year. I have been using it with good results. However, this morning when I checked my grow, it was dead. Any one know where I can get it repaired or is it just a dead paperweight ?

I opened the Procyon and I found to my suprise that next to the fuse (which is fine) is a black-round transistor like thing that has actually burned off the cicuit board. It is marked "STM CL-130." I have no idea what this is, but I would guess that it needs to be replaced..... any ideas ???????????

Yes, like the picture only the under STM reads CL-130.......... I assume that I need to pull the burned out one and re-solder a new one on.....

Not without ESD-safe soldering equipment.I assume that I need to pull the burned out one and re-solder a new one on.....
And if a problem elsewhere in the circuit caused the thermistor failure, it may take more components with it when it blows again. That's what I meant byOriginally, the Procyons shipped with a 2 year warrantee, with instructions to contact HGL or your "place of purchase" for warrantee repairs. You should at least give the builder a chance to see why your unit failed; I know I'd want to see it if it were my product. Once you start poking around in there you kinda "contaminate the crime scene" and can make troubleshooting pretty difficult. Naturally, you'll void the remainder of your warrantee as well...As to what caused that component to fail...
Changing a fuse is straightforward enough, but circuit boards are not the place to perfect your tiny-soldering skills.
Let us know how it goes. :thumbsup:Need advice wth plant problems?
