    Increase humidity

Just purchased a new digital temp/humidity gauge and noticed my humidity is low (41 or so), read it needs to be about 50 for flowering.

Whats the easiest way to increase humidity? I have a bucket of water in my grow tent right now and thought that would be enough for humidity.

    Ideas appreciated

My flowering room rarely gets above 35% RH, and sometimes gets below my hygrometer's ability to register, so it reads --. The buds look ok to me so far. According to Robert Clarke in "Marijuana Botany," An arid atmosphere stimulates trichome development and therefor THC production. He's careful to point out that this applies to the atmosphere, not the soil. I highly recommend this book, by the way. In any event, I'd trade low RH for moldy buds any day.

Thanks guys, I will let it be as it is. I check it this early AM before fans and lights kicked on and humidity was 52 or so. When exhaust fan and LED lights kick on it goes down to low 40's ..... so I will just leave it.

Thanks guys for feedback, can't wait for my first grow to get done. :rastasmoke: Already learn a lot for 2nd grow.

I agree with senor, I'd take low RH over mold any day. I've lived in the desert all my life & never had a problem with growing in low humidity besides having to water the soil more often.

Funny how this topic comes up. I have a friend setting up his grow room now and he read the Bible, and it is now gospel. Therefore.....mind you we live in WA state......he is putting up plastic and buying humdity testers and blah, blah, blah. Spending all sorts of money he does not need to. I have tried to coach them, but the Bible has them convinced that the Bible's method is the only way without flexibility.

Look, I have been growing indoors for 15 years. Cold climates, dry climates, hot climates, wet climates. In my humble opinion humidity has no real effect on the outcome AFTER the cloning/seedling stage. (Those get the covered containers to keep the humidity up until they grow enough for 1/2 gal pots.

I am told I grow the best weed they have ever smoked. I don't use very much fertilizer at all, don't worry about the humidity. My humidity during a year's time here in WA can be as low as 20% for a week and as high as 100% for a month. I see no effect so long as I keep the air moving through the room...a lot of air. I use 750 cfm for 120 square foot of grow area.

Fertilizer? Plain ole 16-16-16 only when they go to the flower room.
Temperature is much more important than humidity. Too cold and they get sick, too hot and they just don't produce.

Peoples make this so difficult when it is so easy. DAMN it is only a weed

Great points..kind of like the old KISS theory (keep it simple stupid).

Question for you. Any insight you have growing auto flower plants? My 2nd grow is going to be with all auto's plants (ak 47's), need to do this for turn around time issues. Any experience/unique issue you know of would be great to hear.

    HA!

LOL, I've been watching this thread because I too have some humidity issues. I have a whole house humidifier. I live in Colorado and it gets pretty cold at night. When it gets cold out all the humidity in my house just condensates on the windows and we're back down to 29%. My babies are currently in a window under CFL and Flourescent(doing well). However I have yet to convert my little room to grow in. Thus the plants are just in my regular living enviroment(just over 1000sf).

I really havn't seen any issues with the plants. Just read 40-50% was where it should be. So over the last couple days I evaporated around 12 gallons into the house to get it over 40% I hoped. Every morning I find it dropped back down to 30% or lower.

I guess I'll just accept it!

Thanks for the thread, perfect timing for me.

I know you didn't ask me, but right now that's what I'm working with is AF's. Don't be surprised when at about day 20 they start to flower. They might only be a couple inches tall with like 4 sets of leaves but they still do a LOT of growing after the start of flowering. I suggest LST to get maximum potential. Here's my first one about 3 weeks from being done, just at the onset of bulking up along with 2 in the back that JUST started flowering:

She was in between size of the two in the back when starting flower, so you can see how much they still grow.
