    Does MJ uptake radon?

With all these basement grows there's got to be some weed that's grown in basements with a high radon concentration. I'm wondering how this could potentially affect the health of the end-user. I guess radon wouldn't really be in the soil so it may not get taken up by the plant in large quantities, but it's mere presence in the air might make it a potential threat (by adhering to the plant somehow or something)...

Does anybody have any info or input on this at all? I couldn't really find anything on google. I think I'll definitely test the radon levels before starting a grow just to be sure.

    Does MJ uptake radon?

Radon comes from granite rock. A school in vancouver Wa. was closed do to this issue. It made all the kids sick...... The columbian news paper had many stories on it. I know Mj is used to clean up toxic sites. It absorbs whats in the soil and air.

Radon is also a common problem in basements in certain parts of the country (the midwest, the near west, random pockets, etc.).
It is one of the leading causes of lung cancer in non-smokers. People can get cancer from it just being in the air in high concentrations in their houses (wafting up through the basement from the soil below).

I would assume MJ does take it in. I have no clue what effect it may have however.

My parents have been living in a mountain house with radon issues. From what I've gathered. The gas is produced by the granite as it decays. Most solid forms of granite do not produce gas, but some do depending on the exact composition.

So, Last year there was a story I read, about how the demand for granite counter tops was leading a few companies to actually cut slabs from degrading rock. Results were that people actually were buying these personal radon factorys and installing them in their kitchens on purpose.:wtf:

They say if your house has radon, If you have a crawl space you need to vent the crawl space with high flow fans. Most houses pull the gas up through the basement/crawlspace and into your living space. Venting it outside before this happens is vital. I believe there are also cement sealers you can buy to reduce the effect. Cement IS porous and radon will flow right through it.

I have no idea if radon either affects, or is affected by, cannabis plants ... but, I responded to say, this is the most intelligent question, I've seen here, in a long time  ... now, if I only had an intelligent answer :wtf:
