New Grower - 24 Inch plant no bud??
Ok, so I have had this plant on 12/12 for about 2 weeks now and it is still popping out new sets of leaves but cant tell if its male or female and cant see any kind of bud type growth anywhere on it..
The plant is approx 24 inches tall now but in between branches where the balls or white hairs should be I dont see anything..
Any ideas or info would be most appreciated!sh22135 Reviewed by sh22135 on . New Grower - 24 Inch plant no bud?? Check for light leaks during the dark cycle. Some strains take a little longer to come into flower if they weren't vegged for very long (seed grown, not clones). After checking for light leaks, be patient, it will happen.

In the 2nd pic of your last upload I see white hairs so its female. I Think you will be fine on that one. Is it bag seed? I would still do a light leak test like Sara Louise mentioned. What size pot do you have it in?

New Grower - 24 Inch plant no bud??
YAY!! First I am super happy that I was correct on identification! That one is seed from bag so I dont really know much about the type.
I am sure it is getting some light as I do watch TV in that room and also have some CFL bulbs going for some smaller starter plants that are in veg state. I do try and keep the light out of that area but it is a little difficult with the area I have to work in.
Since I am seeing the white hairs now, how much time do you think it would take bud? I am guessing probably a few weeks??
Thanks again!

A plant doesn't start flowering until a chemical builds up in the cells of the plant. This chemical doesn't build up when ANY light hits the plant(except green). Example being,... Plant in a sealed box, ONLY light in the box is the light on a power strip. This plant will not bud!
If you want this thing to flower you need to move it into a closet(or something/somewhere COMPETELY dark) and hang serious stuff in front of the door cracks.
After it does start to flower. You need to maintain this darkness EVERY 12 hour night cycle until the flowering is complete. Indicas can take as little as 7-8 weeks. Sativas take as long as 12 weeks. MANY of these stains put a lot of the real weight on during the last couple weeks of flower too. Cutting early will give weak and small bud.A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned - this is the sum of good government.

Most likely your OK. Just needs more dark time to build up more of the flowering hormones. If flowers are starting to show your likely OK.
I think you should watch where the flowers are forming to see if areas of the plant might be getting a little light. For example if the flowers are forming only on the back (away from the slightly open door) you might still have an issue.
Good growing! :thumbsup:A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned - this is the sum of good government.

Touchy subject for some. In Cervates bible, there is a picture of a sativa that was grown outdoors. Half of the plant is in flower, half is not. Why? Half of the plant during the night was getting direct light from a HPS street light and the rest of the plant was shaded from that light.
So, the half that did not flower was only shaded/did not get direct light during the 'night' phase.
Part two.
My grow area is conjoined rooms. There is a door between the two and I just used a plastic (white translucent) folding door. During the dark cycle the room still gets a slight glow from the veg room. Been growing in that setup for 6 years and not having any issues.
This leads me to believe that it is direct light, not diffused that will have effect of messing/stressing the plants. As mentioned above....what about a full moon night. That is not total darkness.
I think we are worrying too much and not letting nature take it's course.
Both photos are females. Congrats
