I finally have to speak up here. I am a former EMT Paramedic, wife is an RN, so we are medically oriented.

I had a threatened MI this last January. It was not a full blown MI because I knew all the signs and was able to chill until they got a stent in. I had a 99% blockage in the artery that feeds the entire left side of my heart. No permanent damage. Lucky me.

Not quite. I have high cholesterol. I cannot take any of the medications that fight that without so much pain I would rather be dead. My choice not to take anything. Therefore I expect to have another stent in the future, possibly have this one plug. Depends on what I can do about the cholesterol.

During the 'event' I continued to use cannabis for pain control, smoking a little, taking pills some too, which don't work as well.

You may want to consider discussing this stuff with a nutritionist. There is not anything that 'cleans' your vessels except time, diet, and exercise. The most difficult part for me is eating the fruit.

I swear the doctors are killing me with all the damn drugs. I found a GP who is mellow and willing to move more slowly and experiment on which drugs I REALLY need to be taking. That has helped a lot.

Exercise is difficult in the Pacific Northwest for 7 months of the year. Wii Fit is pretty good for us older folks, I like it a lot. Helps with some of my pains too by keeping my range of motion, which I also try to get out once a week and play 9 holes - walking.

Take medical advice given in forums with great caution. You learned the signs before your stent. Listen to them (your body) to prevent further damage to your heart.

Getting old sucks the big wienie....and then some
