first off i would get away from the bathroom fixtures because they DO only have a rating of 60w.. but the ones for construction sites that just bold/screw onto the board are rated for ..just search "Leviton Surface Mount Porcelain Light Socket Medium Base Lamp Holder 9880" and it will give you an idea of what would do better. and that socket is like $3 and rated for 660w... how many CFL's is that, anyone? just find non-fixture light sockets..like the ones an electrician would install in your home for you..
they are simple to install and almost fool proof..
and i dont think that you will have any luck with killing bacteria with molasses.. i think that it is used to PROMOTE bacteria growth in soil.. if you dont have an aversion to pesticides then i would recommend one of those designed for your pest..
