1st grow advice is appreciated...
Ok so this is sort of my first grow but i have attempted to do this before just never worked out very well.
So to start this off here are the materials that i am using.
4-26w bulbs of 1600 lumens of light output, so a total of 6400 lumens
18 gallon bin
emergency blanket all on the inside of the bin
bathroom fixture with 4 sockets
8 biodegradable pots
Miracle Grow organic choice
thermometer with a humidity meter
8 bagseed babies that came from a so-called batch of haze
Well i started to germinate 11 on DEC 20th came out with 8 cracked open ready to get dropped in the pot.
On DEC 23th 6am i planted them all in seperate pots and placed them in my bin already prepared for them.
On DEC 25th i saw that one of my babies have already sprouted and is already about 3cm tall.
Temp: 71-82 Degrees-F, 21.67-27.78-C
Humudity: 33% sometimes it says Low usually when i havent watered them
When i close my closet door it is around 82 when it is open it is around 75,76 but when i spark a blunt and open my bedroom window to blaze it drops to 72
Now i have noticed there might be a problem with my grow setup.
My light fixxture is about 4-6 inches away from my pots and is not straight accross because of it being to big to fit inside of the bin.
Also on the second day i saw a gnat flying around i tried to kill it but the m+therf+cker was way to fast so after a few more failed attemps i just decided to leave it alone and open my closet door to hopefully see it fly out and i can close the door and kill it knowing its out of my grow area.
Any advice will be gladly appreciated and i will update my progress as it grows...

Sounds good thanks for the reply, after the first one sprouted i moved it and placed another one in its place to see what happens.
Do you think having the bin on the carpet floor leaves the plants more vulnerable to bugs? thats my only worry i have a dog in the house and ever since ive had this grow going i havent let him in my room.
P.S i tried leaving some positive rep for you by clicking on you name but didnt know where to go i will as soon as i find out though.
Like i said before all help is appreciatedI take steps, one L at a time :joint1:

Get some of those no pest strips or put a layer of sand over your soil(after they sprout) to control the gnats.
Everything else sounds decent enough, you will need more light in a few weeks if you want to keep them all but I'm sure you know that.
Good luck & happy growing!

Thanks alot redtails, I believe my gnat problem has gotten worse i passed out around 3am and i had just killed the only gnat i saw but as soon as i woke up at 10am i saw 2 of them flying around.
Pest strip? can i find that at lowes/Home Depot how do i know which one is safe for the plants, and if i use the sand trick simply wait for the little ones to be above ground and pore a layer of sand around them?
But on the good side another seeding has come out the ground as fast as the first one and im staring to see some green come out of 2 more.
Because of my lack of space/lighting i wasnt planning on keeping all 8 in there too long. If all decide to grow I was hoping I can keep 4 in that bin and transfer 4 to a friend that can take care of them.I take steps, one L at a time :joint1:

Yeah the pest strip is the little sticky trap. And the sand blocks the eggs from getting oxygen so they suffocate. Not sure how long to leave the sand there because the roots need O2 also, but that's what is generally recommended so I guess it's all good. Congrats on more sprouting! I'd say you want to have about 4 of those lights for each plant when you flower or you won't get too much, so keep that in mind. Check around in the Indoor & Closet/Cabinet sections, there's lots of people doing basically the same thing as you so you can see what to expect. Knowledge is power, or so it says in Mortal Kombat!

Congrats on the sproutings skunk, hopefully all the work pays off for you!!
Redtails: you said during flower he may need four bulbs per plant? is that for optimum lighting or do you think they will need that much light to make it through flowering? I was under the impression that 5000 lumens per sq ft was enough lighting but is that per plant?

Optimum, he can actually flower with probably only 2 total lights but there will be maybe a couple grams there in the end. And yes the 5000 lumens is per sq ft, not plant. The reason I said 4 per plant is so that one can be on each of four sides near the top, providing light all around. If you use LST, SOG, or ScrOG, you can get away with the current configuration seeing as you will have an even canopy and only need overhead lighting. I have 1 plant right now that's 2" under a 200w cfl (12,000 lumens) & has been LST'd to keep it in a 10"x10" area and that's not even proving to be completely optimum IMHO, although it's still doing great. The more light, the better generally. You can get a few of the y-splitters and run 2 bulbs from each socket as long as you don't exceed the wattage rating of the fixture.

Ok sounds good I am going to start by getting the pest strips and putting a layer of sand around the ones that have already reached the surface.
But now that I know I have gnats in the soil would it still be transport the biodegradeble pots into larger pots, that's ofcourse if I don't see anymore gnats and I already removed it.
For the lighting I was planning on switching over to different bulbs that gives out more red. If I buy 2 twin fixtures do you think it would be to much heat for the plants, right now the temps are at 82. I was also going to place another bin on top of it so I get more of a closed in grow ofcourse wrapping that bin with emergency blanket all around.
Also the bulbs I was going to buy for flowering give out 2700k while these for the growth are 6500k, can I just buy 4 (2700) for the 2 twin fixtures and use it all the way till harvest?
Thanks again for all your helpI take steps, one L at a time :joint1:

i would advise taking some time and a small sheet of plywood and attaching some of the round porcelain light fixtures (rated for 200w btw) from HD. they cost a couple bucks each and take a lil bit of time to wire up.. be careful and dont kill yourself!! put a splitter in each of 5 of those and you will have enough light to fill the space you have and if you dont just add another couple fixtures. sound like fun??
when i get the time i will make a DIY guide for this..
