    OHIO LATE 1700'S ??? History???

William Henry Harrison 9th president of the United States

The fellow in the green is Wells

William Wells was born circa 1770. Miami Indians captured Wells when he was twelve years old, and their chief, Little Turtle raised him as his own son. Wells also married Little Turtle's daughter, Sweet Breeze. During the late 1780s and the early 1790s, Wells assisted Little Turtle in stopping white settlers from encroaching upon Indian land. He assisted the Indians of the Northwest Territory against Arthur St. Clair in 1791. By 1794, Wells had a change of heart. Many people believe that he could no longer stand the bloodshed that characterized the Northwest Territory in the late 1780s and the early 1790s.

    OHIO LATE 1700'S ??? History???

French pioneers discovered most of inland North America, and the Ohio valley was once a part of New France (Canada's name before the British took over). The French pioneers also tended to intermarry a lot with the Native-Americans, resulting in entire towns and territories comprised only of métis, half French half Indian people. After the Brits took over in 1753, they started settling the area.

That's as far as I know, maybe some American historian can take over from here
