Hello, a few months ago I was hired for a new job. Due to the economy, my start date kept getting pushed back but I am finally going to begin training next January. This is a really good job and I do NOT want to blow it. My offer letter stipulated that my position was contingent on a "favorable background investigation". I submitted the background check form and there were no issues. There has been no indication at any point during the interview or hiring process that I'm required to pass a drug test - yet, that doesn't stop my stoner paranoia from getting me down.

My question is simply if employers are required to notify their prospective employees about their drug testing policy if it's required for employment? I have this fear in the back of my head that I'll arrive at the training and be quickly pulled aside for them to obtain my urine. But, surely a company wouldn't get all their new hires set up and ready to train, travel included, only to give a drug test that might terminate some peoples' employment?

I always have some quick-fix handy, just in case. But I don't want to be caught off guard, you know? I feel like my concern is ridiculous and unnecessary, so is it?
