What's up wiht kiefing buds? Is that standard practice? Who usually does the kiefing? The grower or the disp.? Seems like bs to me.

I've been a caregiver many years and have never once kiefed a bud for my own use or for someone elses. Plenty of kief on the popcorn buds/trim for any needs. I'm not sure who would do it but don't purchase it if you suspect it was done. See what buds that are autotrimmed look like though, some folks might mistake the machine trim for being kiefed.

This pic is using an automatic trimmer. It doesn't look as good as careful hand trimmed IMO, but being kiefed is definitely worse. Another variable is that many hand trimmers are not that good round here and leave lotsa leaf.

Somwtimes it is the growers who take advantage of unknowing or unexperienced dispensary owners, and sometimes it is the dispensary owner who takes advatgare of unknowing patients. It is very easy to tell if your medicine has been tumbled as all the trichome stalks will be missing their glandular heads. We here at CCF take a strong stance against tumbling or "kiefing" our medicine. It is one thing you will never see at CCF, just the same as you will never see wet or uncured medicine. It is a disgusting thing to take patients medicine and extract the very ingredient that helps with relief in order to sell it again and make twice the profit, and I believe patients will refuse to patronize those establishments. We dont need a nanny goverment to watch over every aspect of our lifes, if we leave their fate up to the patient driven market, they (the patients) will ultimately decides who stays and who needs to leave....:jointsmile:

buy a grinder that catches the kief from your own product and you never have to buy any. it amazes me that people buy kief when all i need to do to get mine is grind up some bud.

I agree whole heartedly with you ColoradoMMJ. We the patients will ultimitely decide who goes and who stays. It will be based on quality. Quality of the medicine and quality of the customer service.

There is a disp. near my condo. The buds look great and perfectly manicured. Almost too perfectly. And the medicine is barely fragrant and hardly sticky at all. Back when I grew some NL #5, you couldn't walk in a place with a bag in your pocket because of the delicious smell.

Someone told me that rolling or kiefing is a practice and I nearly hit the roof. I will never patronize an establishment that rolls again.

Thank you all for your comments. I would like to start growing again but would hate to have it in my 1000sf condo. I would love to grow outdoors but would hate to stress about security. Indoors has the security but can't match the sun's power and effeciency. Indoor grow powered by solar panels seems pretty like a pretty tizight idea. Also co-ops seem interesting but vague at this point.

I guess a pocket microscope wouldn't be a bad investment! I think you can get one at radioshack for like 20-30 bucks. Could be a little more, but you should be able to see if the trich heads are missing.

If anyone discovers that a certain place is removing kif from buds and then reselling they should post the name of the dispensary in this thread so everyone can avoid them. Man, that is some low shit! Its pretty much on par with selling counterfeit pharmaceuticals.

Also, as far as getting your own kif I really can never get enough to have a regular supply of kif. I mean, I'm only able to top like 4-6 bowls with kif after running an entire oz through my kif box. Although I usually don't grind, I just break/cut it up in the kif box. I guess your yield depends how much you prefer to smoke right away with the buds & how much plant matter gets through the screen.

I've had some kif from C3 that was basically green. Then again, the kif at D9 and from my kif screen is golden colored because of the fine screen.

I use a large table top magnifier for inspecting product. It clamps to a table and has a large LED under the scope. I think I paid 30 or 40 dollars for it from staples or office depot.... maybe ill pick up another so that our members can inspect the medicine if they so wish...:jointsmile:

Right now we do have some nice kief, it was brought in from a vendor who told me it was AK47 kief. It is very golden blonde with a beautiful smell and a clean sift. Reccomended for any dry sift / kief lovers. Available at CCF for onlyu $20 per gram.

That's a good price for kif! Way to deliver for the patients bro! $25-30/g seems to be the status quo and it seems really high to me. Saw my first hash oil the other day at a different dispensary from yours and it was $60/g. I about shit my drawers when he said that. Them's coke prices.

hash oil is good but not worth 60 a g. Back in the day we used to dip cigarettes in it..and puff down...got you ripped. Not that this matters much but when i used to travel to Jamaica i could buy a film canister full of honey oil for $10...which you couldn't smoke all of it in a wk..I tried believe me
