I've been a caregiver many years and have never once kiefed a bud for my own use or for someone elses. Plenty of kief on the popcorn buds/trim for any needs. I'm not sure who would do it but don't purchase it if you suspect it was done. See what buds that are autotrimmed look like though, some folks might mistake the machine trim for being kiefed.

This pic is using an automatic trimmer. It doesn't look as good as careful hand trimmed IMO, but being kiefed is definitely worse. Another variable is that many hand trimmers are not that good round here and leave lotsa leaf.
