Florescent to start then HPS and MH
So I'm looking to use 2 40w T12 GE 6500k shop lights for the first three weeks. Then after they have good roots I will transplant them and begin using a 400w MH and 400w HPS.
Starting from seed. Going to start with 9 seeds. Is that enough light to being with just to get them going?
Thanks for any advice.M10 Reviewed by M10 on . Florescent to start then HPS and MH So I'm looking to use 2 40w T12 GE 6500k shop lights for the first three weeks. Yes. That's what I do......good potting soil mix with 20% perlite added and holes drilled in the bottoms of 18 oz plastic cups. I germinate in the cups. I set them on top of my refrigerator; with a thermometer, where they stay 80-85 degrees. I used a hand sprayer to keep the top of the soil moist, not wet. Usually germinate in 3-4 days; don't bury the seeds any deeper that 1/4 inch.
To make your first transplant go easy: use two cups!. One inside another. The one inside should have no bottom and cut it up one side all the way. It will slide right out and not disturb the roots. Don't use clear cups.
Good Luck....
