Watering till you get a good runoff is just fine but.....

How often do you water them? You never want your soil to always be wet....You want to let it dry sometimes. Not COMPLETELY though. Good way to do it, is when you water them, pick one up after watering and then kinda get an idea of the weight when wet. Then when they dry obviously they will get lighter. When you pick them up you can get an idea of how dry or wet it still may be. Also, putting your finger into the dirt and feeling how moist it is will work also!

i am thinking of watering the solo cups late tonight or early in the AM.. they are dry but im not sure how dry is dry enough..
i think they are kinda dry to the very bottom but am yet again how dry it should be to qualify as 'dry'
