If a slow draw isn't satisfactory for a particular user, turn up the temp and that will compensate for a faster draw, which brings a cooler air flow.
I have tried that in the past, and it made the vape less efficient. I have found that the best efficiency is achieved when you breathe super slow and set the vape where the manual says.

The chimney piece you refer to is called the heater cover. I have broken a wand before by dropping it, but I highly doubt one would need an extra heater cover. The heater cover would be pretty difficult to break and is pretty well protected by the metal housing. My SSV has even been knocked on the floor a few times and the heater cover has never been affected.
